Static stretching

This question is for athletes/guys who compete in power events...so I know that you are supposed to warm up with dynamic stretching prior to workouts because static stretching can decrease performance if done before a comp, but does static stretching done on a daily basis have any long term effects on power output if not done pre workout or contest?
 
The only way it can be detrimental to power output is if your ROM becomes so excessive that the joint is "loose" under load. If you do PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching regularly, you can increase strength and stability at the "ends" of your ROM, which can only help athletic performance.
