stay home dad's

older

I appreciate everyones post so far...I will be a stay at home dad, my wife and I are going to have 2 babies in a couple of years. She is much younger than me. My other kids are pretty much grown.

Im an experienced dad, but its been along time since I had babies around me full time. This may or may not work out, I may have to switch and me work, but for now the plan is me at home with the babies when it happens.

It sounds like you have much the same situation I have. I have three older grown kids and a wife that is 22 years younger than I am. The first 5 years we were together I worked my ass off making a great living until a serious health issue came along requiring open heart surgery (not a heart attack). Since then it just worked out that I stayed home with the girls. I think my wife wanted it this way all along. She likes being the big bread winner, though I do have a very good pension to add to our income--30 years in a trade.

You are going to be busy for at least the first 5 years but it's worth it.

I'm not a stay at home dad all year, but during summer recess from teaching, even though I am still working two jobs I have alot more time at home with my 16 month old son who happens to be playing in a cardboard box as I type this. I love it but it does get to be trying on my patience and my need to be productive. I am built to go out and work, and I actually and looking forward to the school year starting up again so that my wife's role and my role can get back to normal.
Peace

I have a 6 month old baby. I'm trying to balance a full time job, full time schooling, and somehow fitting lifting and dieting in there somewhere. My wife works full time and our schedules clash a lot. It's really hard to do everything but I still love my son and being able to care for him.

And as he grows up he will love and respect you more because even though you have a busy life, he knows you still love spending time with him.....until he comes a teenager.....then it becomes an armed truce.
