sterile abcess - is there anything i can do?

Hi all, i have been using synthol for some time now with no probs, however recently i developed a sterile abcess - its caused by injecting into the scar tissue which prevents the oil from dissolving...its a small hard lump thats sitting on my chest...looks fucking awfulll! Is there anything i can do? its getting me really down, is an operation the only way out?

Well you could take antibiotics should help. I recently hit a pocket in my biceps with one didnt know I had it. You could also try to drain it but could cuse it to get infected but I think it will go away on its own eventually.MM

Antibiotics won't work if it's a sterile abscess.
What were you doing having scar tissue in the first place? And in the second place, what were you doing injecting into scar tissue??
After each shot, you should massage the hell out of it so scar tissue doesn't develop. Also, the oil gets injected VERY slowly, with the smallest needle possible for that reason.
If you do develop scar tissue, do not inject in that area until the scar tissue dissapears. You make it dissapear by deep tissue massage - painful!
That's my lecture.

Now, you have to stop all the shots in the area. Drain the abscess with a needle. After it's all drained, massage the hell out of the area all the time so the scar tissue breakes down. It will dissapear in time. The time frame depends on how much scar tissue you have there.

Well I know of a few people,

The people I have seen this with is number one diabetics injecting insulin. Number two people who use water based injectables and repeatedly use the same injection site. Now, yes You should drain it. However you have no training in this. I personally would use a 18g or 20g needle connected to a 20ml luerlock syringe. Swab the entire area with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Now buy some betadine and apply it to the whole area and about 2 inches past the nodule. Let the betadine dry (do not touch it) for 3 minutes. Use a pair of latex gloves(unless you have latex allergy then get nitrile gloves). Inject into the center of the knot slowly. Now once in the center draw back on the syringe untill you see the fluid leaking into the barrell of the syringe ( should be creamy or just serosangenous fluid (pinkish). Now after you removeing the needle and aspirated contents squeeze the area like a pimple to ensure the fluid is out. Now do continue to massage the area. This should help. However this is not really meant for people with no medical training as things can and probably will go wrong. This is just freindly advice if it was me. Later.

thanks bro, i tried doing that with no success. Its like there is no fluid inside the lump at all. Its like it consists of scar tissue...whats betadine for?

It's like a disinfectant - it's leaves the skin orangish-colored. It's one of the things they use on you prior to surgery.

What I recommended betadine...

Betadine is used in a surgical scrub process. Yes, it should be used before the procedure I explained. After all it is a surgical process. If no fluid or anything was released try one more time at a different spot of the nodule. If it does not drain anything again it is probably iflamed tissue and just needs to be massaged. Also ibuprofen at 800mg 3x day for 10 days only. This will help. Let us know how it goes.

I had a knot develope in my left bicep from winny injections. I first trid to drain the knot, (with a syringe), but nothing came out. I then penetrated past the knot and drew back on the syringe and puss and fluid started coming out. My point is that the part that needs to be drained my be under the knot. I also took some KEFLEX as an antibiotic for any infection. It's been about 2 months and it seems to have gone away. I saw dramatic results within 7-10 days. Like they said before, I'd stay away from that injection site for a while. Hope this helps

i tried drawing from quite a few different places but still no luck. Its like the lump is made up of scar tissue. Its hard as hell, i even have a problem pushing a needle through it...

Well, that's scar tissue then. You shouldn't have had it in the first place, so it's a good lesson so you know for the future how to avoid it.

Since it's recent, it should be easy to break down. Go to a deep tissue massage specialist (chinese massage seems to be best) and get them to break it down.

thanks everyone. i wish i could post pics, but i dont have a camera...totally my fault thou, i was lazy and now i have to pay the price. i ran out of syringes on my last 2-3 injections and ended up using the .5" needle. basically i injected under my skin rather then inside the muscle. i thought that as long as i massaged the area i would be fine...what the hell was i thinking?
