Steroids versus Baseball...

If everyone juiced and those guys stats are still top tier, they should go in.

It's B.s. you still gotta be able to hit the ball, steroids don't do jack shit for hand eye coordination. Bonds and Mcguire were already hall of fame material well before the years they started using (which was probably 4-6 yrs), you can throw Clemens in there as well. Sosa, steroids probably helped him the most.

Even before they took steroids, they were hall of famers. Bonds was a 3 time MVP pre-steroids. The voters are all highly unqualified to vote. Even Mike Piazza didn't get in

Also the numbers of Mays, Aarron, Mantle etc., are way more impressive IMO than anyone in this era (steroids aside). The reason being is the pitching as a whole in this era is watered down due to the increase in teams. Aarron, Mays could have hit 90+ homers in this era with bad pitching, a juiced baseball, and steroids.

The hypocrisy is baseball is laughable. They let guys like Hank Aaron who was no doubt was one of the greatest sluggers in the game in to the Hall who took greenies(amphetamine which are PEDs), yet they are trying so damn hard to keep Bonds, Sosa, Clemons, Canseco, etc. out because they took steroids and gh. If you're going to let all the guys that took PEDs to get an edge in, on the same token, you have to induct the juicers as well. Baseball is tainted no matter which way you look at it but these writers/voters are in denial and are the biggest hypocrites.

Or just completely biased about steroids. Bonds and Mcquire never even had a positive test.

Its true but hall of fame have to come up with an algorithm to calculate players who did not juice but did not come up with #s to those who did.

Its like we got to go find a calculation for bagwell with reg stats vs what if he juiced stats, compare it to bonds (if he got in) and does it compare relatively well enough to let him get in.

Bonds and Mcguire knew how to get around the tests and also took the clear which could not be detected at the time. I have a sneaking suspicion that Victor Conte is still trying to concoct/modify steroids for the players in order to stay one step ahead of testing.

its absurd. barry bonds is in my opinion, the greatest slugger of all time. he was a very gifted hitter before juice. watching him hit was like a work of art. clemens of course good long before gear as well. its stupid. they did what they did to become the best of the best........and EVERYONE loved it! it was a dying sport before the home run hitters brought the game back to life.

Those whose opinions actually matter know those guys belong in there (themselves, other hall of famers, other pro's, their families). People who actually believe that PED's aren't used at the top of most pro sports aka idiots and think those guys shouldn't be in the hall of fame who really cares about their opinion. On another note one of my friends who was a D1 athlete went on this huge rant about how disappointed he was in lance Armstrong when he was stripped of his tour titles, I came pretty close to just punching him in the face and walking away.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

All true aside from the fact that McGuire retired 4 years before mandatory testing.

This is so fucking stupid I don't know where to start. Aaron may have benefited from expansion more than any other elite hitter. MLB added 8 teams during his career. This was before pitching training got tons of guys throwing in the 90s, before baseball pulled huge amounts of talent from Japan and all over the Caribbean, and before bullpen specialization.

Baseball has only added 6 teams since Aaron retired.

Secondly Aaron shows none of the typical signs of a natural career curve. He hit 40 homeruns in his age 39 season. You know how many guys above 37 years of age hit 20 or more HRs in 2012? ZERO.

The entire baseball steriod era thing is stupid, 1st synthetic test has been around since 1939, dbol 1958(who knows weather or not guys presteroid era were on or not)...more so for the witchhunt after(time, tax $$ etc. to catch a few guys that wanna get big)

Let's not forget that steroid-era pitchers were using as well. In fact, I believe more pitchers have tested positive than any other position. Of course, that's partly due to roster distributions, but as a group pitchers aren't exactly clean.

LMFAO!!!! who cares if you grow another foot.... you got three fucking feet... run muthafucka!!!!!

steroids.... after 20 years... thats a bad muthafucka!!!

most accurate statement made was him saying he "would pay to see that" cuz it entertainment and regardless of whoever's morale ethics standards etc... ppl want that vicarious entertainment in one form or another...

Witherspoon is one straight shooter... gotta love that guy...

Bullshit - those old guys faced the same pitcher many games every single at bat. A good batter can figure out a good pitcher after 2-3 at bats plus the pitcher got tired in the latter innings.

Now ur starter goes maybe 5, middle reliever(s) get the 6,7,8th and then ur stud reliever comes in for the final 3 outs. A batter may face 3 or more pitchers in one game now.

I'm telling you the pitching these days is garbage. Every team with the exception of a handful has only two good pitchers and the 3rd 4th and 5th man in the rotation have no stuff what so ever

I can see what you are saying. However, there are way more pitchers these days that throw above 90 than ever before in the past due to better programs, training and supplementation.
