Does anyone use this for font squats? I've tried holding the bar. Im 47, im a whuss. Does this really work? I find when i attempt front its more work holding the bar than on my quads.
any other strap/equipment suggestions? Thanks

i do fronts on the smith

seems to feel better on my lower back this way

i do them after my heavy sets......so i dont go real heavy
maybe 3 wheels a side for a few sets....slow my reps down
with a real good neg

front squats

Yes I actually like them better then the normal style of squats have noticed great results by doing them this way!!!

I have trouble with the bar also and would love to find something to help .According to an article I read they are the best exercise for qauds. An MRI was used to determine the amount of micro trauma after certain exercises which was in turn read by a radiologist .Front sqauts were much more effective than reg. sqauts for qauds.

That is very interesting..thanks

You are talking about this Stingray device to support the bar, correct?

no prob bro.. They went through almost every exercise for every bodypart using and MRI and having a board certified radiologist compare the micro trauma on the muscle fibers to determine the most effective exercises.
the results.

Chest : dumbell bench press
back : lat pull downs
shoulders: dumbell presses
biceps: barbell curls
triceps: dips
qauds: front sqauts
hamstrings: romanian dead lift
calves: standing calf raise

That's it.

The smith machine sounds like a great option. Maybe I'll get a stingray for when I squat at home.

Thanks all. Especially the Viagra post. Because all this exercise stuff is just a road to f*** women. Thank goodness for spam. :D

th smith machine target ur knee i repect it target ur knee if u must use it thn do so with less weight until failyer, protect ur knee u need em to walk. just be careful with th smith machine, be smart be safe

What I tried

The smith machine just didn't work for me.

I have a safety squat bar at home that I bought from elite fitness and I turned it around and tried that. It felt secure and fairly comfortable. I was able to do front squats. But I still felt it much more in my trunk than in my legs. So I'm back to plain old squats. I don't believe the sting Ray could work any better than my padded safety squat bar. I am also biking a lot more now and that really burns the thighs.

I haven't had personal experience with the sting ray, but I have some buddies that tried it and they didn't really say anything positive

Ive tried the sting ray, ok, but I wouldnt buy one
I just got one of these:
**broken link removed**
considerably more expensive, but works perfect, & well worth the $$. Destroyed my legs. i like it a lot
