So if you think your going to get scientific data about diet you'd be wrong.. just like his training he knew the basics and didn't care to know much more..
I asked him how he fueled his high volume workouts.. it was what I expect.. the man in question drove a truck for a living.. so he sat all day.. so he wasn't expending alot of energy.. so I asked what a typical day looked like..
" well in my off season I'd eat what I wanted.. didn't put alot of thought into it really.. just tried to alot of protein.. my breakfast was usually 3 eggs scrambled and a cup of oatmeal or grits with some milk.. if I was hungry before lunch I'd eat a apple or banana.. then lunch was some sort of meat in a sandwhich.. what ever I had or was on sale.. my bread was oat bread or whole wheat.. id have cheese on it I guess.. then some cottage cheese.. id get off at 4 so id try and have another piece of fruit before my training.. then after my training it was whatever my wife fixed.. spaghetti and meatballs .. or a meat stew.. I dont know.. shes a good cook but I ate what ever she gave me.. lots of it.. I was usually pretty hungry by then.. before bed id eat another carton of cottage cheese.. I went through alot of it.." I asked him if he ever added up his protein amounts per day.. " no.. there was some stuff on labels but alot of what I are didn't tell ya.. I didnt have any books about it. . Didn't care enough to ever really find out "
When I asked what changed before a shoe he said.. " about 8 weeks out id start eating nothing but chicken .. broccoli.. green beans.. steak or hamburger once a week.. only 1 carton of cottage cheese and oats once a day.. no breads.. if I started to feel week id add in fruit.. if I thought my size was down I'd eat a bit more.. just looked in the mirror.. I didn't have time to be doing all that meal preparing.. I just are more sometimes and less other times.. I always stayed pretty fat free so it was too hard.. " he said the key was to not get to fat.. ever..
I asked about cardio.. he said " well my training was cardio.. but if I needed to lose a bit more id go on long walks with my wife before bed.. maybe 30 to 40 minutes".. again pretty simple.. and having warrior genetics helps..
