Study on why sleep apnea is so damaging

Has anyone had any luck with one of those mouth pieces meant to open up the airways?

Cant find it right now but pretty much looks like a mouth guard

Interesting.. thanks for posting this

No problem. If you google "sleep apnea mouth guard" plenty more will come up. My only hesitation is most of them talk about addressing snoring more so than sleep apnea but I see quite a few Amazon reviews that have people talking about using these instead of CPAPs

Like this? Just saw my sleep doc yesterday and will be getting fit for one of these soon. CPAP did nothing for me the first time so glad I have another option to try first before having to go back to CPAP

SLeep doc is supposed to schedule me an appointment ASAP with the dentist to get a mold done. I told them I didn't care what day or time but I want first available. Hopefully I'll have seen the dentist by the end of next week. Then who knows how long it takes for the device to get made.

I have one of these currently and regardless of the adjustment it made my sleep or lack of sleep worse.. Hope you have better luck than I did!

I use this sucker right here. I have moderate sleep apnea and went to a top sleep specialist in NYC. He said most doctors are not up-to-date on the latest treatments for sleep apnea so they basically turn to the CPAP for EVERYONE. Even though there are better options right now.

The mouthguard works though. They have it fully molded to your mouth so it snaps in. What it does it holds your jaw forward. Think about sleeping with an insane underbite. An underbite shifts your lower jaw forward and actually opens your air pathway significantly. Before I go to bed I snap it on and pass out.

As of right now, the mouthguard is working for me. I'm on enhanced TRT at the moment with 250mg of Test and 200mg Deca and I sleep fine. When I ramp my dosages up, i sleep like shit and it gets worse. ESPECIALLY on Tren. I also dont want to go to the CPAP until I have to. I have a bad deviated septum and I was told I would need a fullll facemask and I've heard horror stories about them ie. dry mouth, uncomfortable as fuck, etc.

Shit, I had 20 events per hour and they considered it mild. That's waking up every 3 minutes..........

Yea my 5-6 seems pretty minimal. It's just hard to tell why I'm waking up every night. Two nights ago I woke up 4x and the first 2 seemed like it was to use the bathroom but the next 2 when I woke up I didn't really need to go.

I'm still recovering from having surgery for my deviated septum so I'm hoping it continues to improve. Last night I only woke up once but took more a while to get back to sleep.

For those of you that use a cpap, how hard is it to sleep with the mask on?

Frustrating IMO. You have this thing strapped to your face that blows a constant stream of air in your nose/mouth. That, plus, you can't really sleep on your side so basically have to sleep on your back all night.

Sleep apnea, really sucks. I only sleep 3 or 4 hours a day. My biological clock is all screwed up from working nights for 35 years. I stop breathing 18 times per hour. I couldn't get use to wearing a mask and I tried about 6 different types, finally said screw it.

I don't know if you tried the "pillow". I think that is the name of it, but it jut covers the openings of your nostrils only. it's similar to those oxygen tubes people have under their noses..You can wear your glasses with it if you like to read in bed

I wish I tried newer mouthguard. I was fitted for one doctor went on vacation then office lost my paper work and end up getting surgery . They called couple months after surgery which was 8 months after being ffittedI would suggested try anything don't get any surgery. I think the surgery should be banned for sleep apnea .
