i have a friend who used to work out at my gym and is a sports caster.. he has a brother who is also in the media and is a writer for major newspaper on the west coast.. i am friends with both and got to know the brother on his visits.. (some of the guys on this board from my hometown will know who i am talking about) anyway, i e mailed him a few days ago and asked him about the benoit deal and why the journalist are not providing facts ect ect.. he called me today..
he was laughing about the tox reports and the reaction of the writers and editors.. he said that they knew that they were caught with their pants down and were figuring ways to spin it in their favor.. he said that they came up with the idea to just focus on the test amounts and to not talk about the examiners comments on roid rage and that he did not believe that it was the cause.. he said that a lady who was in the morning meetings said "why dont we just take the examiners notes point by point and let the readers decide on the facts?".. he said the assist editor looked at her and said "we will look like idiots and we will never retract a story.. go with the testosterone in the urine headline and leave the examiners notes out.. then drop it.."..
when he told me that i got pissed and started ranting and he said .. and i quote.. " you dont get facts from the news.. you have to dig much deeper.. we are entertainers not eductators".. he did not mean to be a ass with that statement.. he was just stating a fact.. a sad, sad fact..

I have said this over and over. For the most part, the media DOES NOT provide the facts in an objective way. They want to increase ratings. Big ratings increase advertising revenue. Revenue makes MONEY for the parent company. It is ENTERTAINMENT for the masses. Whatever SPIN they can put on it to capture the uneducated masses attention, they will do that. There is intense competition out there for your attention.

This is one of those times where you know that this is what happens at media outlets but you just don't know for sure......Well know you know for sure that this happens...

Actually I knew it a long time ago when this reporter interviewed me at the gym about ephedra then went and cut and pasted my quotes to spin it in her favor which was it was an awful drug.....She got a complete earful from me the next time I saw her in the gym.......She was fired less than 6 months later from the tv network....

I don't know any more. Why can't they just admit that they got it wrong and rolled with the punches. Apologize and get on with it. It takes a big person to front up to a mistake or error in judgemnt. We are starting to see some of this these days. Who knows it could actually work in their favor and it would not be the only or last time they will look like idiots to us!! But it is interesting to know that is how they work.

Maybe if he had an assload of tren in him at the time, it could maybe,(key word "maybe) be linked to steroids, but he was doing test only and for replacement therapy...

ya good point man! i noticed the same thing...

now i dont condone dog fighting and i actually think it is very cruel! the funny thing is everyone is ready to go knock down vicks door and hang him right there... but he hasent even been arraingned yet? nor has he been proven guilty yet, in the paper yesterday i saw an article about how peta and all these animal right groups are ready to boycott everything vick has ever looked at... i think the man deserves a fair trial...but it is the same as the benniot case every one knows its the steroids that killed him!, and he was such a horrible person for giving his son gh shots to keep him alive!...... now how many deaths have been linked to opiats and anti depressants and anti anxiety meds? a whole lot! and he had both of these in his system also, but it was obviously roid rage! haha what are we comming to?

the problem with our society is everyone want to find someone to blame (or something). maybe he was a disturbed man and didnt see the point in going on i life? (shit, i am starting tio think he is on to something there, i mean look at the world around us, is it so hard to belive someone thought this life was so evil now that it is not worth living?) what happened was sad and we will never know what made him do it, is that so hard to accept? the messed up part about all this is the media having a field day with it. can you imagine what kind of person hears this news and actually gets exited, and makes outright lies about it to get rateings?

it really is sad when a school shooting or a serial killer or a "benniot" are normal things to hear about when you turn on the t.v.....
