Looking to try out Krill oil for a little while - supposed to be a "better absorption".

For those of you that have been using it: is it worth the cost difference? If so - what brand do you use?

I just got off what essentially ended up being a 8 month cut cycle with just holidays (Christmas) off in between - doses were up to ~ 750mg/week. Last 4 months of 2024 were test deca eq. First 4 months this year were test mast tren (tren was taken at 40 mg/wk). Have been doing cardio for 45 min daily since last June.

Just got part of my bloodwork back and so far everything is a LOT better than expected (especially lipid panel). HDL was 1 point below lower threshold @ 39 and LDL was @ 72. I blame the success on fish oil, cardio, and 99% clean eating (minus 2-3 holiday meals).

Have been taking "NOW Foods" brand fish oil the whole time - 6g/day - and wondering if krill may help keep HDL even better. Also brain health is super important to me as my job in tech requires a highly functional mind. Have also tried citrus bergamot before and did not see as much success as I see now with the cheaper options. Also have recently heard that red rice yeast can be a big help as well.

No idea on the krill oil I take 1st phorm omega 3. I’d recommend adding CoQ10 200mg daily and Red yeast rice. I take a supplement that has both from amazon red bottle. Take it once in the morning once at night. You’ll see great improvement in your lipid profile.

Thanks, I'll try them out!

After taking omega 3's for 30+ years i found that some of the benifits they are supposed to supply didn't pan out for me.

I’ve used fish oils forever but recently switched to krill oil. Just to see if it has had any other impact on my blood work. I’ll get that done in a few weeks to see if there is any difference.

Let me know man! I'm super curious. I'm assuming it's going to be one of those "2x the cost for +5% benefit" things, but who knows, maybe not.

Ive noticed with krill vs regular fish oil the EPA and DHA content seems to be a lot less. So in my mind it just doesn't make sense to pay more for less. But plenty of sources out there claim that the absorbability is what makes the difference

My bloods came back better than a couple months ago. I think it helped a small amount. I bumped Citrus Bergamot up to 1500 a day and I think that helped more.

Hey man, thanks for the followup. That being said: do you think the huge price difference is worth it? And what do you mean "a small amount": we talking like a point or 2?

No I am sticking with Fish Oil. I don’t think it was worth it. HDL went up 4 and LDL dropped 4. Trigs went down about 15 but I credit that to better diet and more Citrus Bergamot.

Not sure if krill is “worth it” or not.. probably depends on how much you’re paying. I add it in, but I also snag it when on sale at Costco. But I don’t rely heavily on it. Instead I take 2.5 mg fish oil am and pm, plus citrus bergamot for cholesterol health

Running catch free algae oil instead. Supposed to be less toxic than fish oil. Not a vegan though and eat plenty of meat. How were your trigylcerides? How long did you run Citrus Bergamot for? Anecdotally I've been told Red Yeast Rice is a waste of money.

Great results on those lipids, especially considering the cycle you just wrapped up. Keeping an LDL of 72 while running tren and mast is impressive.

If you are looking to level up from standard fish oil for better absorption and cognitive support, you might want to look into Performance Lab Omega-3.

I’ve switched to them for my own supplementation because they use algae oil instead of fish or krill. It’s much cleaner, there’s no fishy aftertaste, and the DHA/EPA ratio is optimized for both heart and brain health.

It has been a reliable part of my routine for maintaining steady bloodwork levels without having to mega-dose cheaper oils.
