Tanning/Tanning Beds... Safe or Not?

What is everyones views on tanning/tanning beds in general. There are ENDLESS articles if you do a quick google search on how bad tanning beds can actually be by causing melanoma. Most dermatologists seem to agree that tanning in general whether it be in a bed or outside is bad. Then there are dermatologists that suggest that some tanning is beneficial as long as you don't get burned.

Interestingly enough, I found an article supporting tanning and even tanning beds, of course in moderation. I am talking to those of us who use it once a week or build a tan and then just maintain it. Not abusing or overusing.

Thoughts??? :)

I use them on a average of once a week after i get a base ,it may be bad but hell everything else in this world is bad for you one time or another:(
I hate guys or girls my age or older who live in the damn thing and their faces look like freaking leather and shit.:banghead:

I can't believe people even question this...they are highly mutagenic to DNA in your skin cells. No they are not safe. Of course there are other stupid things you can do, but this is pretty much tantamount to smoking. You're subjecting yourself to DNA damage and orders of magnitude higher cancer risk.

No tan is safe. Just getting a tan means you exposed yourself to UV radiation. The tanning response is the body's crude way of protecting itself. The concept of a base tan is asinine.

How do you get your vitamin D ? No supplement can come close to what the sun provides. Some sun exposure is a necessity for good health.

Ok, so tanning beds are bad for you, like just about anything else in excess. That being said, can anyone chime in on the use of Melanotan 2 peptide to possibly reduce the amount of exposure needed for our base tans?

Agree, but there is a difference from tanning and normal outdoor activity.

My error...I missed the recently revived old thread "Melanotan II 3-week Results"

SADD

I am extremely seasonal delusional disordered and in Louisville we have as many cloudy days as seattle. so I get depressed and if a little tanning bed can lift my sprits so be it. and melanotan2 does make limited tanning results better

An asian gal in Australia died from skin cancer using sun bed. Not safe. Not worth the risk.

How'd they determine that's what she got it from?

Remember that movie about how death comes and gets you no matter what? The people escaped death in a plane crash then in the same order they would have died, death got them anyway. Well...............................remember the girl that got trapped in a tan bed and fried to death?

Came across this online, called winter blues or something along those lines I can't remember, but the doctor told the patient to go to a tanning bed 3 times a week, and she did so for a couple months then tanned every once in a while.

But that leads me to the next question, if you use MT2 and lets say tan 4 times a month to maintain the tan, is the tanning beds still bad?

Hm....

Don't be so ridiculous. Humans evolved living outside in sunlight over the last 2 million years, hunting, gathering, performing daily task, etc.
