Tendonitis

I have tendonitis in my right elbow. On the outside and inside. It is really affecting my workouts. I can't even do biceps. Doing back I have to do light weight lots of reps. Any suggestions on how to deal with this or help it heal. I have tried icing.

Rest, ice and ibuprofen.

Keep icing it even after it feel "healed"

If you try and train through it, you may make it worse and have a chronic (that means long term-lifelong) injury. Best to let it rest 2 weeks minimum.

Put a bunch of time working your skinny legs and calves :D

Tendonitis or tennis elbow? I get regular flare ups of tennis elbow and it's usually Hammer Curls that flares it up. Once you've encountered this problem with your elbows it's a good bet that it will continue to return every now and then.
As said above, you need to ice it and take Ibuprofen. I also spent the money and bought a Tens Unit:

Tens Unit

I bought one that has two wire leads from it and I do both arms at the same time. Each wire lead will have two pads. Put the two pads on the top of the forearm right near the elbow and run it for a good 30 minutes. It also really helps to wrap an ice pack in a damp towel and ice the forearm as your using the Tens Unit.

you've got to be careful trying to train around an injury though... you subconsciously try and protect the injury by sacrificing proper form... and the next thing you know you've got an injury pop up somewhere else...

In addition to agreeing with most of the above let me add a few other ideas:
Try DMSO on the effected area. DMSO seems to be more effective on muscles than tendons and ligaments but you've got nothing to lose by trying it.
ART is great therapy for recovery, so if you live anywhere near a practitioner try that.
Finally trying mega dosing fish oil and something for the joints like glucosamine based stuff.

My advice is to avoid the movements that cause it to flare up....for me it is heavy bicep curls and skull crushes. I will throw these movements in every so often till the pain starts back then I will lay off. :)

It only hurts on any movement where there is a pull(curls, back movements). I haven't trained biceps in 2 months and really really light back. I mean 80lb pull downs with high reps being sure to use my back and not my bi's. My family doctor just said it was tendonitis. The pain is on the outsides of my elbow. Top and bottom. I ice and use ibuprofen and it really doesn't help. It's hard to not train and very frustrating. Thanks for the input

Given the duration and extent of the problem I strongly advise you to get scene by a specialist. I like ART myself but someone anyone who can diagnose and treat this for you is a must a this point

Avoid the movement that is causing it if you can. Otherwise ice, and take an anti-inflammatory.
