The Flu again!

I am having a rough start to this year and now I regret not having the "hyped up" flu shots! In December I had the chest infection (probably H1N1) now I am on my second sinus infection. Why am I getting sick so often? I need to get rid of this fast as I need to start my contest prep April 3 and I sure don't feel like it. It's tough enough just eating my food. I am taking lots of Vita C, Oregano Oil, Collidial Silver. Anyone else got some advice on how to get better fast?

I would venture to guess you are training to hard ad not recovering properly. How much traing do you do every day? How much sleep do you get every night? What is your "life" stress level like?

Well said...stress alone will break down your system. I take a B-Complex/Vit C and rhodiola for stress in the morning. For cold/flu try splitting your vitamin C am and pm. I take additional Vit C 500mg pm. Knock on wood I've been pretty much cold/flu free. Had the flu around x-mas time other then that I've been good to go.

Actually I have been a little lazy about my weight program, since October after being in Europe for a month it has been a bit hard to get back into, I am usually one to stick to my program completley, diet and all. I weight train 45-60min 4 days per week and no cardio at this point, I stick to my clean diet religously but the sleep is the problem. I never had a night where I don't wake up at some point usually to go to the bathroom. I take Melatonin everynight but it doesn't keep me asleep. I usually don't get sick but this year is different.

Something is going on that is causing you to be sick and it doesn't sound like it's over training.

What other stuff is going on in your life? Much stress?

Try taking some vitamin d3 it helps raise your immune system.There's a lot of people get sick in winter old and young due lack of d3 in the body.Which is what the body produces when exposed to sunlight.Even though winter is over your levels depends of how often your exposed to the sun.Each persons depends on the individual.heres a video link from dr.mercola it has a formal of you how vitamin d3 and a link with other research.

I do take vita D maybe not enough? 1000 iu per day? I may be stressed out but really can't think of anything in particular, maybe turning 40 upset me more than I thought and I have been thinking "what have I done with my life"? I think this is a particularly bad flu season also. I just finished a cycle and that probably doesn't help either.
 
One thing you don't want to do while you are sick is do any training. That will just slow your recovery. Best thing is not to catch it in the 1st place. You get it from other people, so stay away from anyone who is sick.
