Random question, why is the word "inflammation " so popular the past year? I see it here, I see it all over any cholesterol, thyroid, fitness group social media "my doctor says I have inflammation, what should I take?"

What exactly are we referring to when we always talk about inflammation and why was this word not used daily by people 3 , 4, 5 years ago? Am I crazy or are other people noticing that they are seeing the word inflammation 20x more often than a few years ago lol.
I think it's a good thing that it's becoming more prevlant and common. Most disease and illness in society is due to INFLAMMATION, blank statement/word but it's true. However, I dont think most people realize what the word truly means, which is okay, as im glad to see more focus being put on that topic. A few years ago when I started to really hone in on controlling excess inflammation with athletes, client progress went to another level. Progress aside though, health markers and organ health thrive. When we look "inflammation", training/bad sleep/drugs/cardio/bad food/gut health etc, pretty much damn near everything can help snow ball this to get even higher.

Look at the american diet, it's the epitome of inflammatory haha. So it does make me happy to see this word popping up quite often.
 
for me - Mots-C is an gamechanger.
it transformed my physique like nothing else (PEDs not counted), and i am not joking.
i am using a pretty high dosage though - around 3mg daily injected.
I believe it has improved some sort of insulin resistance or metabolic damage

Not all inflammation is created equal. It can be instrumental or detrimental. Context matters.

Haha appreciate the kind words, especially from you! I know I often come off as a douche and can be annoying...try not to be. Very fortunate to have an old school forum where I can learn from and interact with you and other advanced bodybuilders so I can gain knowledge and perspective to help me wirh my personal goals.

I agree. Also am seeing more attention paid to gut health, and oxidative stress. Seems like there's been increased focus on recovery these past couple years, and each of these topics (and addressing them proactively) are helping people be more productive in their off-seasons.

Maybe people were talking and addressing it before and simply using different vocabulary, but I welcome it personally.

It’s just another buzzword for click bait, but it’s not new and has been talked about for years. We just have TikTok and a million influencers now. Lol

Inflammation is actually a good thing in the right context. It’s our body’s repair and defense system. If we have “chronic inflammation” it’s our body constantly trying to repair and clean something up.

This thought process of “crush inflammation” is not fully correct. We need to manage it, not crush it. It’s how we heal and know something is off.

Are there any specific blood markers to look for, crp? And even if we can measure inflammation, do you know yet if we can yet accurately identify the cause when it exists in excess? Id assume its just a process of elimination, foods, drugs, supps, training practices, stress management, sleep, digestion..human body is so complex lol

#1 inflammation marker, LDL. What spiked my LDL the most (besides anavar) might surprise some, it was alcohol. Sugars and carbs would be #2. Using a statin to mask your LDL # does not fix the inflammation either.

FYI does anyone know what PRP or PROLO injections in the joint do? It creates an acute inflammatory response to signal the need for healing (good thing). Context is important.

Best single marker: hs-CRP
Chronic inflammation: hs-CRP + ESR (I run these on all my labs)
Training / stress inflammation: IL-6
Hidden inflammation: Ferritin
Cardio risk: hs-CRP + Fibrinogen


If you wanted a full list (yes I used ChatGPT to summarize) then here are all of your options and what they’re for:
