I’d like to hear your experience. I’ll start off with a few.
Went to a rheumatologist as I thought I might’ve had chronic fatigue syndrome. She ran bloodwork and my vitamin D came back at 101 range 30-100. She says your vitamin D is too high don’t take any vitamin D supplements and avoid foods with vitamin D. Then she says the rest of your bloodwork is normal if you’re tired all the time you probably have chronic fatigue syndrome here’s a script for Provigil.
Then she says I see you are on TRT how old are you? This was when I was 32. She says wow 32 years old that’s a shame that you are using testosterone at such a young age. I’m like yeah well my natural production was low. She just says “if you exercise more and get some sunlight it will become high you don’t need testosterone at only 32 it’s not recommended until you are in your 70s.” I literally just paid my co-pay and left.
In 2014 I went to a psychiatrist who said “I think you might have a little ADHD you should try Adderall, i’m going to start you at 30 mg two times a day.” I said isn’t that high dose? He said “no you’re a big guy you probably need more.“ I never needed Adderall but the day I tried one I was hooked and now it’s been a problem for over 4 years. I went back to him several times saying I’m not feeling it as much as I used to and he said “hmm maybe you’re developing a little tolerance.”he increased my dose to 120 mg a day. (3) 30mg Adderall IR and (1) 20mg Adderall IR. The pharmacy said they’ve never seen that high and had to make a few calls to fill the script. He later prescribe me Vyvanse at 70mg and said this will help your tolerance as half of it will kick in within an hour and the other half kicks in 4 to 5 hours later. I said isn’t by Vyvanse just dextroamphetamine with lysine attached and when the lysine is cleaved it releases the dextroamphetamine which is equivalent to 40% there you’re essentially just taking 28mg dextroamphetamine that takes maybe an extra hour to be released opposed to normal? He sits there with this blank look on his face and then goes on his laptop and five minutes later says no half is released right away the other half for five hours later. I was mindblown. I swear these doctors just prescribe medications when they’ve never taken them themselves and don’t realize how addictive and harmful they can be.
Then I went to a hematologist who said my blood was too thick and wanted me to do a phlebotomy every 2 weeks. I said wont that tank my ferritin levels? He says “Nahhh ferritin isnt really a big deal. You won’t really notice anything if it’s low.” Low and behold ferritin is extremely important for mitochondrial function and low ferritin is far worse for you than high hemoglobin.
What I’ve concluded is the most knowledgeable people on drugs are not doctors it’s the people who have taken the drugs themselves and experience the negative side effects. They will go to the end of the world doing research when doctors generally go off of all information they learned 40 years ago.
