The needle would NOT go in

Has this ever happen to you?
I load up the syringe. Poke my glute. It breaks the skin and then... nothing. I push harder... the needle starts to bend. Try again and it's like trying to poke a brick wall. :banghead: So I had to pull out, get a new needle and try a different part of my ass.
This has been happening lately around one certain spot. I'm thinking it's maybe scar tissue build up or maybe something else?

I would go with scar tissue... ive always felt with a little pressure if it was scar or not, never enough to bend the needle though.

for real after 25 years on/off my ass had enough. scar tissue galore turned into pin cussion. quads are butter with 1/2 will never go glute again quads so damn easy so many places easy access never an issue.

I had this happen yesterday; dull needle, it wouldn't go in either shoulder. I changed needles and it went in smooth.

sound to me ur going to slow and if ther scar tissue ther is like a crunch like when u go in,use good neddle and just push it in and rotate alway rotate ur sight,like i was told dont b a wenie just do it,and dont go slow with it

What's harder is once you get it in, trying to inject it afterwards, that IS what really sucks because the plunger will not move

Try using smaller gauge needles and different sites whenever possible.

rub the area you are trying to administer to...you should feel hard lumps in there if it's scar tissue...

Are you using cheap pins? they sound dull.

Exactly...i have used a brand that were just total crap(mono ject). switched to terumo and no problems, and then there is also scar tissue, but never had a problem w terumo

Like others said, mak sure the pin is fresh. A poke through the filter is enough to dull a pin, thats what 18's are for. Also try to do one swift poke to avoid having to push further.

IMO a human grade pin versus a vet grade mono for example makes all the difference in the world. As others have stated, probably scar tissue.
