Regarding the recent posts, the pleas for sanity,
the health problems and health questions, the fear
of dieing, let me first say that I wish each and every
one of those in danger, seeking help, nothing but
the very best.
Now . . . on to the rub . . .
It was a recent post by Chris where he said "You
guys gotta be safe with this . . .I mean if you want
to live a long life, and train hardcore for a long time
. . . . .You got to keep yourself healthy . . . ."
that I think we can all agree with and that got me
to thinking.
I find it very sad, not humorous, that many people
dismiss what doctors have to say (you pick the
subject) until you fear that you are on death's
doorstep, and then you're afraid to step off the curb
until you get a doctors approval. It is only then
that you put trust in what they say and become a
true believer.
Could go on and on about what doctors don't know,
but that would be missing the point. Suffice to say,
the good ones are here to keep you alive and very
much like a pistol, you don't need one very often,
but when you do you need one very badly and very
quickly and nothing else will do.
If I may be so bold say . . . your health needs to be
your number one priority. A quick look is all it takes
to see the huge percentage of posts here that have
to do with the unwanted side effects of you name it.
And when it is all said and done, more has been said
then done and your little pile of medals, the trophies on
display or tossed in your closet, the stack of photo-
graphs (mostly bad) will become meaningless if you
don't have your health and your family, your friends and
your loved ones standing by your side in your time of
need. These are your silver bullets, save them and use
them wisely. Because in the end, they are all you
really have.
It is so unfortunate is that many don't really learn
this until it is too late, the damage is done, that
damage having the possibility of be irreversible.
So with any luck at all, when this current streak of
unfortunate circumstances passes, this board will
reinforce it's place as the sanest, most accurate,
most responsible and professional place on the
internet to get information on bodybuilding, regard-
less of your aspirations. There is something here for
everyone.
Off my soap box for now.
