I'm not sure if this is the right place or not, but I'd like to know if members have come across this sort of thing before?

I run a bodybuilding group online via YAHOO Groups and to reduce spam attacks require that all members send a little introduction (so I know that they are not spammers), however the most recent request left me scratching my head slightly.

Name: Ivan
Location: Kiev, Ukraine
Age: 22
Weight: 105kg (231lbs)
Height: 1.85m (6ft 1in)
Years bodybuilding: 17

Which I thought sounded very promising indeed, until I read the next section:

Why do you bodybuild: To prove that my muscles are the strongest thing in the world. I test myself everyday with a 3 hour training session then apply electric current to muscles and flex as I feel the pain. Beating the pain is what makes me strong.

"Yes" I thought, "slightly on the bizarre side" only to discover it got worse!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time: Lifting the Mr. Ukraine Trophy and then sitting in an electric chair withstanding the pain for 24 hours straight!

Well, as you can imagine he was rejected, but I was wondering if anyone else had come across anything as weird (or even weirder!).

Why would you reject him. He seems like lifting is a passion and not literally but using the electric chair to show his heart and drive as a example. Weird maybe but what is normal in society now days.MM

Where was that guy when Chernobyl blew?

I htink he may have been in the neighborhood...:p

Yea well screw you guys and your little yahoo board, i was just being honest! I didnt really wanna join your stupid bodybuilding board anyway

It's ok TP4U, you can always start your own group

What I find odd is that he says hes 22 but has been bbing for 17yrs. He must be more jacked than that "world strongest boy."

Thus spake Zarathustra

The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, "What does not kill you makes you stronger." Ummm, yeah .... ummm, no, no, that's just plain stupid. Nietzsche said a number of things that were outrageously stupid and, unfortunately, many of them have made their way into the popular culture. What Nietzsche failed to realize is that what doesn't kill you can fuck you up for a really, really long time. The man himself was a victim of his own philosophy...and many have followed in his footsteps. This Uke kid has certainly drunk deeply from the Nietzschean well.

I wonder if there is a Ukrainian version of the Darwin awards (http://www.darwinawards.com). We may be reading about him in the near future! LOL.
