First one. Bernstein again...doing Shostakovitch Sym #5 final movement. This is a very fast pace for this piece but how could the musicians not deliver for the great Lenny?

My second entry. A very difficult and exhilerating piano piece by Prokofiev. As you may be able to tell, I favor the 20th century composers. Bartok, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Copland etc.

To get to this level of expertise takes as much time and effort as becoming a National level bodybuilding champion. In my mind there is no difference. The same kind of passion and drive compels each to attempt what most other humans cannot.

You know the sad part about composers back then like Beethovin, bach,
Mozart and so on, most lived a peasants life never recognized for there
great achievments in music until now.

That's because they were ahead of their time. It's hard to imagine, but when most of the great music we consider classics was composed people HATED it because it was too new and too fresh. It challenged their expectations and sounded harsh to their ears. It takes time for the general public to catch up with geniuses!

Mike, beings you know alot about classical music, I'm sure then you
had to of seen the movie Amadeus and remember at the end when
Mozart died I think of a venereal disease, notice how they barried
him In the most disgraceful way. dumped him out of the casket into
a mass grave rapped up in cloth and through lime on him. Didn't even
waste the casket on. Not sure how accurate the movie was
but i think they were making a point in general.

This was heavy metal of the day. A riot broke out in Paris at its premiere in 1913. I love Stravinsky!

I think it was more or less true about the sad facts of his death. But you are also right that it was meant to be symbolic and show how we often fail to recognize genius in its time.
