I would imagine most of these are due to other drugs they got into like pain killers. Keep in mind I haven't read the thread but I hope juice isn't that bad in itself if not using freakish doasages.
I wrote my will last night
How weird so did I. I have left Rambo my pre workout powders (quite a collection). Dev can have my protein powders... including 3 tubs of synthepure. I have left you my gym gloves... both pairs
I literally truly did blood work yesterday to increase my life insurance, lol.

And I'll take care of your gorgeous gf, don't worry about it, mate...
J/K...
I will swop her for the Argentinian girl
This is a serious question. How many guys have you met that have had serious health issues from doing 1-2 grams a week for 10-20 year period? The guys that took little breaks and never pushed it and got bloodwork. Not breaking balls at all, i am curious?
I've done all that except echo and EKG recently. I'm paranoid to be told my heart is a little larger than it should be which is almost certain with AAS/GH use. But I did have echo and EKG at like 15 years old and know I have no defects, malformation or any congenital type issues. My dad has an enlarged heart but he drank tons, had high BP, smoked and was overweight for years on end. But then an uncle also got diagnosed with it so I may have a genetic predestination. Blood work and blood pressure are fine now. Cholesterol was bad and is treated now (Praluent) and much much lower with good cholesterol rising. I do blood work more than twice a year. Optimized sleep with a Bipap. I'm trying to get the most out of the least usage these days at 35.I think if you throw in blood pressure monitoring, an EKG, and an echo cardiogram once a year, you will be closer to the answer you are looking for. How many of us have done these things 20 years ago? I did not. I did not know anyone who did. Bloodwork was nowhere near as easy or inexpensive as today.
Today, I would assume people who test some are much more prevalent. I would be very interested to hear a report from those today that do ALL of the below:
1. Test Blood Pressure regularly and log it.
2. Get Blood Work Panel twice or more yearly.
3. Get EKG done twice a year
4. Get an echocardiogram done once a year
5. Have a sleep study done at your largest bulking size
5. AND THiS IS THE BIGGIE: MODIFY BEHAVIOR BASED ON RESULTS
My total unscientific guess, would be this number was on an asymtotic approach to zero twenty years ago, with very, very, litlle daylight under the curve today as it approaches zero percent of bodybuilders.
Why? I purposely picked blood work and EKG more than once a year so that 1) It can be done at least once during highest usage duration and 2)It means you have to do it at least one other time other than a yearly physical, which is a conscious proactive decision to spend money on your health.
I picked echocardiogram, because it will show function and enlargement to a much more precise degree than XRAY, and also it typically will have to be paid out of pocket.
Another important tenet of the above regime, is has to be done consistently. All too often, someone will get blood work done a couple of times and take blood pressure for a couple of months, and everything being in range, will cease, but if you ask them a couple years later, they will say that they are careful and test because their mind only remembers the couple times they did it and skips over the many times they neglected. It is similar to remembering your two good wins at the casino and neglecting the 37 big beats.
And as I have said many times, I am a "Debbie Downer" when it comes to cautioning people to make rational decisions. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars, had to alter activities in my life that I love, live with the knowledge that my cardiologist told me that he did not think I was going to survive (years after the fact). Live with knowing 50% of people diagnosed with my level of heart failure die within 5 years, and 50% of those die in the next 5. Changing your persona in peoples eyes from indestructible, larger than life, to somewhat fragile. Being ordered to bed rest and no driving for six weeks. Being ordered to not lift weights.
Yes, I am often a downer here. I was not for the preceding 15 years on the internet boards. I wish, wish, wish, more "respected" people continually presented the message often. I wish more members like Maldorf, Bald Nazi, and countless others shared there stories. I wish someone who is "in the know" and does more research than I ever will, would continue to offer their insights to help and warn others not to be in my situation.
If you do not want to hear the message when I post, when Maldorf posts, or when Dante posts cautions, please skip the messages. Some of you guys are doing the board members a disservice by saying "Oh no, not this again!"
Guess what, it sometimes takes repetitive messages to get through the noise and be accepted. This board gets new members every day who have not heard the stories, or been given the messages.
Very simple point:
Which is less risky:
A) Using large doses but doing all the testing above
B) Never using steroids.
B wins in a landslide. Not 100% but way up there. Because of this, that means using raises the risk. The question is how much risk? That is unknowable, but urging people to take caution to not abuse is the correct course of action.
Some of you guys are doing harm by making fun of these cautionary posts. The people who choose to listen to you to discount these cautions will gain zero useful in their lives by doing an extra gram, but they have a ton to lose if they are one of the many with bad outcomes from abuse.
You guys know full well that the percentage of even informed people doing all of the above testing is miniscule.
I have enjoyed this board and others quite a bit. I certainly have no information to give about large cycles, competing, etc, but what I do have is experience and having lived through many stages of life while lifting. Financial, marriage, divorce, family relationships, health are all impacted by the choices we make with our training regimes. I can speak on some of these issues.
I owe this board. I owe its members. I have taken from this board and I will pay back what I can. I will not stop because a couple of you guys think I am a whiner. Yes, I have better things to do as many other successful people do. I want to say I truly appreciate the time and effort of many of you guys to inform and enlighten, and yes, sometimes entertain.
I would like this board much less without the diverse cross section of members and would hate to lose some of the more seasoned voices in the mix.
I will leave you with this: I have been training with bodybuilders for decades. Many of them are in the fifties and sixties now and some dead. Never have I heard one of them say they wish they took more steriods. Not once.
I gladly read the 'Debbie Downer' posts and hope they continue. I mean, I'm one of those hardgainer guys, and I so badly would love to run big doses and get ahead... But I don't. Very rarely do I stray above 500 mg of gear per week.I think if you throw in blood pressure monitoring, an EKG, and an echo cardiogram once a year, you will be closer to the answer you are looking for. Will I ever be huge? Nope, not even close. And I can live with that. Every now and then I get restless and push the dose up a bit, but I can't justify staying there.
