IMPORTANT FACTS regarding TOXINS in our environment
50 % of all illness is due to poor indoor air quality (Source: 1989 State of
Mass. Study) 3 groupsof people are primarily affected by indoor chemical concentrations
because they spend more time indoors and their immune systems are weaker.
The three groups are:
Infants and toddlers
Elderly
Chronically ill
(Source
1988 EPA 5 years study)
The top 12 cancer causing products in the average home include the following:
Johnson and Johnson Baby Powder with Talc
Crest Tartar Control Toothpaste
VO 5 Hair Conditioner
Clairol
Nice N Easy Hair Color
Ajax Cleaner
Lysol Disinfectant
(Source:The National Cancer Prevention Coalition)
Liquid Dish Soap is the leading cause of poisonings in the home (contain
formaldehyde and ammonia in most brands)
Of the chemicals found in personal care products:
884 are toxic
146 cause tumors
218 cause reproductive complications
314 cause biological mutations
376 cause skin and eye irritations
Source:United States House of Representatives report, 1989)
The State of California recently passed legislation requiring a 45%
reduction in the amount of toxins found in:
Hairspray aerosols
Furniture polish
Window cleaners
Air Fresheners
Laundry detergents
Nail polish remover
Insect repellent
Hair styling gel and mousse
Shaving crème
(Source: Healthy Homes in a Toxic World)
Out of 1,435 pesticide poisonings in a 1Year period, over 40 % were due to
exposure to disinfectants and similar cleaning products in the home.
(Source: State of California Study)
Just reducing (not eliminating) environmental carcinogens alone,
would save at least 50, 000 lives from cancer annually (Source: Dr. Lee
Davis, former advisor to the Secretary of Health)
Women who work in the home have a 54% higher death rate from cancer than
woman who work outside of the home (Source: 17 year EPA study)
Over the last 20-30 years, as more toxic chemicals have been introduced in
greater amounts, the levels of toxins stored in our bodies has risen.
Bioaccumulation studies have shown that some toxins store in our bodies for
life. Greater and greater amounts are being stored at younger. Diseases
that used to occur later in life are now appearing at younger ages. Disease
that used to be rare is more frequent. For example:
There has been a 28% increase in childhood cancer
since the addition of pesticides into household’s products (Source: National
Cancer Institute)
In one decade, there has been a 42% increase in asthma
(29% for men and 82% for women- the higher rate for women is believed to be
due to the women’s longer exposure to household chemicals (Source: Center for
Disease Control)
Due to the increase in toxic buildup in our bodies, including the toxic buildup
of formaldehyde, dead bodies are not decomposing as fast as they
used too. (Source National Institutes of Health)
Bodies now start to decompose within 7 to 10 days after
death. During the Vietnam War, Vietnamese bodies started to decompose within
24-28 hours, Americans didn’t start to decompose for 4 to 5 days.
Two times as much formaldehyde was needed to embalm a person twenty years
ago as is needed today.
There is an increased risk for leukemia in children where parents have used
pesticides in the home or garden before the child’s birth (Source: Journal
of the National Cancer Institute.
Over 150 chemicals found in the average home have been linked to allergies,
birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities (Source: Consumer
Product Safety Commission)
Some products release contaminants into the air right away, other do so
gradually over a period of time. Some stay in the air up to a year. These
contaminants, found in many household and personal care products can cause
dizziness, nausea, allergic reactions, eye/skin/respiratory tract
irritations and some cause cancer. (Source: American Lung Association)
The following products are just a few that are so toxic they would be
disposed in a toxic waster dump:
Floor care products
Furniture Polish
Window cleaner
Bug spray
Nail polish remover
(Source: Water Pollution Control Federation)
Warning labels on containers refer ONLY to toxins hazard from ingestion,
however only 10% of health problems from chemicals are caused by ingestion.
90% are caused by the inhalation of vapors and absorption of particles.
Government regulations require that only the most EXTREMELY Toxic substance
must contain a warning label. Labels that say the following should be
removed from your home immediately:
Do not induce vomiting
Corrosive or fatal if swallowed
Harmful or fatal if swallowed
Call physician immediately- Get emergency aid
Warning (means that (1 teaspoon of product can harm or kill an adult)
Danger (means that as little as 5 drops can harm or kill an adult)
Phenol is a very common chemical that is found in household products. Health effects from
phenol include:
Corrosive to any tissue
Harm to the central nervous system
Primary rout of entry is through the skin
Phenol is found in the following common products:
Air fresheners
Carmax
Blistex
Anti-itching and pain relieving lotions
Chloroseptic throat spray
Feminine powders and sprays
Furniture polish
Disinfectant cleaner
All-purpose cleaner

YOU GOTTA LOVE THE U.S. CORPORATION,SUPPOSEDLY FIGHTING TO KEEP DRUGS OFF THE STREET,BUT LETTING TOXINS AND CARCENIGENS IN EVERYDAY PRODUCTS THAT PEOPLE USE EVERY DAY.I'M SURE THE LEVELS ARE NOT ENOUGH TO HURT ANYONE WHATEVER ,THEY START THE SICKNESS YOUNG.THEY WANT EVERYONE TO BE A PHARMECEUTICAL BABY. THIS STILL BEWILDERS ME - TYLENOL KILLS MORE PEOPLE PER YEAR THAN ALL STREET DRUGS COMBINED.OH YEAH I FORGOT THE CIA CAN'T FUND THEIR COVERT MISSIONS WITH TYLENOL.

Sounds like another bullshit article. (I know you didn't write it) If you think about it without those products you would be more susceptible to other problems. Try not using some of those and see what a normal person would look and feel like at 40 years old.

Water will kill you if you drown. Oxygen will kill you if the balance is off in excess.

i wonder if those products you listed are still "dangerous" today since those studies are nearing 20 years old ... perhaps their ingredients have been changed

I use Lysol disinfectant everyday, I'm a deadman. But then again, I rub one off about four times a week and I'm not blind yet.

no i didn't write it,i am curious as to not using what products would make a person feel and look different at 40?i don't use many of them anyway.there are plenty of other products that are just bad for you or worse on shelves today.

really i'm curious to why you say sounds like another bullshit artical?do you really thing the fda, epa, corporate giants,gov't,etc.... give a shit about you,me or anyone else?

oh how much oxygen would it take to kill me?oh and can you explain how it's going to kill me?

Well, let’s see. Let’s take disinfectants for one instance. You are talking about something that was made to kill organisms. You are an organism. Over abundance will kill you too. But on the light side it kills germs, disease, infection, bacteria including HIV, etc. that will affect you more than a light occurrence of the disinfectant itself. It’s a balance. I have heard many times how fluorine is very hazardous to your health and fluoride is just a compound including fluorine. How good would your teeth feel at 40 if you didn't use it? If you think you can survive on straight oxygen, you are mistaken. Again, anything in abundance will harm you. I finish with this was not an attack on you. I know you did not write it. I have read these pedantic articles before, but I’d like to keep my teeth along with other things.

True story. years ago I contracted crabs and instead of embarrasing
my self going to the pharm. for ointment I used a can of raid. I was
a stupid teenager that knew no better. Can't understand it. I'm still kickin.

This article is nonsense. There are more important things to worry about. Are you trying to live FOREVER or something anyway? Not me. I know several farmers who lived into their 90's. They were around farm chemicals most of their adult lives. I know guys that paint cars and industrial equipment for a living, and they are exposed to chemicals that are 100x more harmful and carcinogenic and are in MUCH higher concentrations. They've lived into their 70's. We're talking high concentrations of Benzene and Isocyanates. I'm with Kaiser.

Good, I feel better now.

sounds like everything around us can kill us....next they'll be telling us twinkies and ho-ho's are absolutely out of the question!!!!

why not just put a knife in santa clause hand and call him a gift giving killer too! :D

I see reason to both sides here, now being serious you canrt avoid all of these things, but you can limit the amount you expose yourself to. I bought all that cleaning stuff at the health food store one and it cost 3x as much, Its messed up we have to pay more to get less toxins and free redicals in our home and especially our food. The majority of my shopping is done at wild oats, trader joes etc., I try to limit my exposure to chemical and pesticides, hydrogenated oils and such and it costs me 2x as much, I sure as hell better live to be 100 years old, hahaha. I will probably get hit by a car tomorow though huh. hahaha! Shoulda been eatin big macks and frostys everyday!

Any of you guys eat organic?

I'll be serious too. Anything with chemicals or chem additives are bad
for you period. It may not shorten your life but mke it pretty uncomfortable
to live. tiredness, being sick all the time and so on.I worked for chemlawn
for years till finally I had to quit cause the insecticides were screwing up
my cholinesterase levels. Even insect repelent will do the same. Deet was
one. You could have symtoms and not even know it. depends on how the
body react to a cetain product. Not all people are the same.

This is so true. I have this bugman named Jerry Garcia (lol). This old fart has probably sniffed all the chemicals on this planet. I always tell him he's part cockroach. lol.

He also played for the greatful dead. I was told he had a chemical
problem.

well, i posted this so people would be aware of what's under their sinks and in their cabinets.of course little contact is not going to be an issue, but some people work these and many other things on a daily basis.why are they allowed to be made and used with these toxins in them.they can be made toxin free or almost toxin free, but yet they choose the toxic route?MONEY AND ILLNESS,it's cheaper to make them toxic and they will cause more health problems.as for the flouride in the water:rolleyes: god that should one of your least concerns.wow how dificult would it be to achieve pure oxygen?i do know this though oxygen kills anything it come in contact with.thats how some big names ,no longer have hiv because they had their blood purified through an oxygen chamber.so once again i posted it for people to be aware of what is out there.you feel it's balance so then you really don't need to worry.i think if you ever looked or researched what goes on with the U.S. CORPORATIN,the private corporations, using and spending tax money.they have no clue that the united states of america is bankrupt.so the corporation is getting all the money.this is no attack, just something you to think about and look it up. it'll open your eyes

The one thing this fear tactic doesn't tell you is that...

WE ALL HAVE A VIRTUALLY IMPENTATRABLE (is that a word?!) IMMUNE SYSTEM and fight this crap on a daily basis. We're not so helpless and weak that we're going to succumb to these "toxins".

Keyboards used by more than one person, bathrooms at work, seats on public transporation, bars, GYMS (gasp!), locker rooms, streets, supermarkets - there are toxins ALL OVER THE PLACE attacking us on a daily basis.

But we have a very strong human immune system which takes care of most of these things.

Don't get so psycho over this stuff... seriously.

Bathe every day, clean your sheets, launder your clothes and wash your hands and you'll survive just fine. You're more likely to be struck by lightning or win the lotto then get poisoned from these "toxins".

Its not a bad read but dont they claim everything is dealy nowadays ??? LOL
Dont think Ill lose any sleep over ity, in fact I think some of my farts would rank a lot deadlier than some of those products :D:D:p
