Not strange at all, in my opinion.. I bet there’s tons of untapped potential for bodybuilding out there in other sports that actually pay..
I know this is a bodybuilding forum but my goal isn’t to offend anyone here..
Imagine being the world champion of a professional sport and only making $1 million on a winning year, sure there’s endorsements but let’s not act like the endorsement deals are anywhere near as sweet as when Ronnie or Jay and some of those guys had them, they were making millions off endorsements alone back then.. I’d bet my last $1,000 most of the top 10 Olympians don’t see $50k-$100k net a year from endorsement deals..
So take that $1 mil, after taxes, expenses, management (if there is any), coach etc, and he’s lucky if he sees $500k out of that..
Most of the real top 1% genetic freaks are in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and shit, maybe even Soccer (Fútbol).. Who’s to say you don’t take Cristiano Ronaldo, for example and give him all the right variables and environment and he’s not Mr. Olympia caliber? After all, Nick Walker looked like a fucking nobody when he first started bodybuilding, love or hate his physique (I’m not a fan AT ALL) but you gota give credit where it’s due, the guy is absolutely massive.
So yea, I’d imagine the real talent and top tier genetics of the world are out there chasing multi million and in some cases, billion dollar contracts for far less risk to their health..
