Low ferritin is usually linked to iron def. anemia 99% of the time. Fatigue short of breath craving to chew ice.. Just get a cbc, ferritin, iron, tibc done by pcp.. Although there are some auto-immune disordera that cause hemolysis which can accompany low ferritin...
I'd venture to say ulcerative colitis. Have you seen a gastroenterologist?
yes I had a colonoscopy and also had an endoscopy. nothing was found to cause this.
Iron panel?

Well that's good. Have you been screened for any type of acquired hemolytic anemias?
no, but i will mention that to my doc next time i see him.
I've read all the symptoms on the internet but want to hear it from you guys with experience.
You weren't donating/phlebotomizing blood? Just got those low numbers some other way?

I want YOUR symptoms when you had it. I understand entirely how and why it happens.

Before I said anything I was curious to see what your labs looked like. Maybe confused but I thought you donated blood often... I think my shortness of breath may be due to iron problems.
My most recent labs are skewed bc I was supplementing iron the day before but even despite that my Iron Saturation was the lowest value in the normal range.
Maybe fatigue but for sure unilateral uncontrollable twitches of my eyelids.
Supplementing ferritin will just worsen your liver values.
My advice: try regular vitamin B12 injections so that your ferritin uptake via food will increase to a more healthy level.
Most recent:
ferritin 23
hematocrit 52.4
hemoblogin 17.2
The rest of the cbc panel was within normal ranges.
But I get these shit dizzy/fatigue symptoms that I don't know are from iron or something else, so I wanted to make this thread to find any clues.
I don't agree at all. I supplement ferrous sulphate all the time and it doesn't worsen my liver values. For me, ferrous sulphate is the most reliable way to increase ferritin. I doubt B12 raises it to the same degree.
