"...largest digital spying scheme in history..."

"...coordinated by the Obama Administration..."

If you download potentially copyrighted software, videos or music, your Internet service provider (ISP) has been watching, and they’re coming for you.

Specifically, they’re coming for you on Thursday, July 12.
That’s the date when the nation’s largest ISPs will all voluntarily implement a new anti-piracy plan that will engage network operators in the largest digital spying scheme in history, and see some users’ bandwidth completely cut off until they sign an agreement saying they will not download copyrighted materials.

Word of the start date has been largely kept secret since ISPs announced their plans last June. The deal was brokered by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and coordinated by the Obama Administration. The same groups have weighed in heavily on controversial Internet policies around the world with similar facilitation by the Obama’s Administration’s State Department.

Not trying to get political, just a heads up.

Unfortunately it was bound to happen sooner or later. The biggest problem I have with this is it opens the door to more government snooping.

it'd probably be safer just to head to your local record store and stuff movies and music in your jacket. jk.

Just subscribe to rhapsody and youll never buy another album again. You can put the music on portable devices too and listen anywhere.

Yeah, Maldorf.. I don't download pirated material myself, and I'm not condoning it... but I know tons of guys that do, and it's far more than just music.. Movies, software, porn, apps, books, etc.. Not only that but if they're going to be looking at isps this closely who knows what other "underground" activities that could be spotted and documented. We're getting to the point where extra precautions should be taken when you're doing anything less than legal on the web. Which I also don't condone, of course. Mainly just pointing this out to the younger guys.. I remember when I was new to the game and damn, did I do some dumb shit. You just don't realize it til after the fact how careless it was. I'm thankful that we weren't in the political environment that we are now. That's all I gotta say.

Now that SOPA (or whatever other name they reissued it as) passed they have open access to everything.

Yes, you have a very good point when you expand the concept to apply to those other matters. I personally dont understand the pirating of music when you can get it so cheap through a place like rhapsody. Movies, they arent all that expensive these days really. Im proud to say I dont pirate anything now.

Some guys are really reckless though in ordering steroids for sure. People using credit cards etc. Nice way to leave a trail, and even emails like hushmail arent safe. I dont even think using proxy servers totally protects you. I dont think there is a way to be 100% safe, other than communicating one on one in person.

There are ways to order steroids 100% safe but it gets pretty damn technical. Multiple VPNs is the way to go for sure. If I were doing anything shady on the web, I'd sure as hell research the best way to go about things.

Peoples rights are damn near gone. Cant even have privacy anymore

lol I typed the word steroid to see if it automatically links to gear depot or if you did it manually Maldorf. Happens automatically...huh, that's pretty smooth... Whoever owns gear depot needs to switch up their strategy a bit though. Google will penalize them for over optimized link profiles. The recent algorithm update changed a bunch of shit.. that being one of them.

Sounds like your techinical experience in these matters might be of good use on this site, glad youre around.

Privacy is a thing of the past. Way too many laws have been passed in the last decade or so that suppress many of our individual freedoms.

We're not nearly as bad as the kids of today. Kid is always asking....can you get me a cracked copy of Sony Vegas or Photoshop? Can I? Yes. Will I? No. I supposed I could block torrent traffic and that would slow him down a lil. I'm too lazy to setup all the filtering.

Thanks Maldorf, haven't been here in a while.. you always were friendly, hope things are good for you.
