What about free T3? Not sure why that was not tested as it is an important piece of the puzzle.

Also, it could very well be cortisol causing your problem and not thyroid related. Could be a lot of other things too, but cortisol can be a biggy.

As of February 2010, at most laboratories in the U.S., the official "normal" reference range for the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) blood test runs from approximately .5 to 4.5/5.0.
However - there are varied opinions in the medical community . If you have issues always get 2nd or 3rd opinion

TSH is only a small part of the picture. To break something very complex down into simple basics; TSH causes stimulation of thyroid to produce T4 which is then converted to T3 which is the active form in its unbound form. Then T3 can be bound or unbound or even reverse. So without knowing what your free T3 is you are misssing many steps/processes that can go wrong between the time you have TSH and the time when its products are actually used. Thats why the testing really needs to be comprehensive. Also the reference range may be .5-4.5, but they are moving to anything being over 2.5 as signifying a problem starting to occur.

If he was to take 25 mcg of T3 would that help assuming he has low levels? Or would it just suppress the thyroid? If so fully suppress? or just the portion that he was supplementing.
