Hi all,
I have my first show of the year next Saturday and a month after I am doing the Amateur Olympia here in Tokyo. This will be my final contest as I'm turning 50 a week later and prep is just too much while trying to be my best at work, home, etc.

Last year I had 9 weeks between shows and backed off the diet a bit and then pushed again. I pushed down to make weight and had a back showing, along with getting food poisoning backstage. This year I want to keep it smoother. I am also planning to the the masters only so no weight class for me here.

What kind of strategies have you used between shows?
Just diet as normal? Back off a bit then bring it back down?

Right now i'm planning to give myself one day after the first show to relax and have a burger or something, then get back on, but probably a bit higher calories to avoid getting worn down too much.

Love to hear feedback form others.
 
Reverse diet to try and bring your calorie ceiling up some, plus the added carbs are good for thyroid production. Then slowly diet back down, if you are successful you should be able to get leaner on higher calories/carbs.
 
4 weeks in between isnt that much so i definitely wouldn't do anything crazy.... but i also feel alot has to do with how you come in on the 1st show... and really the latter show being more important....
I agree with having a nice meal afterwards and getting right back to work.... AND being its your last show..... give it all you fucking got....
 
Thanks guys. I think a very slow, gradual reverse diet focused on adding in a bit more carbs might do me some good.

If you like the look of your first show, then you should just browse. Now, if you don't like your appearance on your first show, either because you're dry but flat or full but soft, just act accordingly and correct the mistakes.
