Time off from gym

They might ease back on the training and ease off on the cycles but to take that much time off and not be in the genetic elite . You would be setting yourself up for failure if you’re taking bodybuilding seriously. Unless something is seriously wrong .
I agree. If I took that time off I would break habit which means I would start eating a snack or 2.. then a few weeks in they could cast me for the new poster boy on the Little Debbie box 😂

2 months off is a big back slide. it takes me about 6 weeks to come back from a lay off like that.
a week off can help here and there more completely off time then that really you start to regress.
going light for a cpl weeks can help.
years ago there was a bb named brian haycock i think that wrote about strategic deconditioning and his magic number was 21 days, but pretty sure it wasnt all off. all off at three weeks i notice setbacks and takes 2-4 weeks to get back to it. even blast and cruise like cfp dc style it takes you 2-4 weeks to get back to previous bests and that is not off off in any way.

for more serious injuries i have learned to take as little time off as possible, tore my pec as in its missing a chuck and didnt miss a day, happened on a friday and i was there on monday doing cardio on a stationary bike. heart attack and stents, slow walks right out of hospital, 2 weeks to do cardio walks and go back to gym but super light. more stents 2 weeks for them to settle and back to it. time off injured seems to be worse then time off not. learned that from other serious injuries/health stuff.

Insane recommendation for complete time off (baring injury). Hell, I tore my pec, looked like a panda with black splotches on me, took 4 weeks off and then got back at it (lower body carefully and rehab for upper until I can build back again)
Noob..
i got surgery for my triceps tendon on a monday midday and on tuesday, i checked google maps for gyms in the city where my clinic was and went getting a pump on my legs and left side
come at me bro
xD

muscle start to atrophy after less than a week.
SO no, absolutely no to not training for 2 months.
Reduce volume and frequency (not intensity) for 1-3 weeks to give your body a break

I think a lot of guys confuse what they meant by that. Time off from the gym or training meant not going in everyday and hitting things 110%.

Most top guys are right back in the gym as the rebound is the most valuable time for any competitor. It’s the level they push that changes.

A de-load or a few days off a year on vacation is all I’ll ever do. Taking two months out of the gym would be a major set back for me and most IMO.

This ^^^
Exactly..

Only true bodybuilders will understand this statement. 💯 Truth!

the timing was "not perfect" though.
I went there in the afternoon and the gym was at the main street. Well, the doc who did my surgery was done at the clinic and drove by the gym in the exact moment where ive entered the door of the gym. The next morning he came in and said "hey buddy, how was the training yesterday?" and i was complete puzzled and didnt know what to say xD I then said i just checked the equipment there, haha xD
he was pretty cool though. And of course he didnt believe me :p

To me you don't need that much of a layoff except in case of serious injury/illness or some big issue in your life that's preventing you from training regularly. No doubt taking that much of a layoff would be rough to get back from, and just taking a week off every 3~4 months is more ideal in normal situations.

I’ve had a full pec minor rupture repair surgery, and two surgeries on my shin/ankle (steel rod instead of a tibia/fibula now) and I was back in the gym literally the next day and never missed. I would crutch to the gym high on pain meds and lift. This is when I was in the Army living on post, and the gym was right across the street, so no driving lol.
Pec repair I was training legs 3x a week and left side 2x

Never miss a day 😂

Some of you guys really over estimate how much you will lose with a week or 2 days off! I know a member who used to book his hotel on vacation depending on the gym they had. Then go spend 2 hours there while his wife is pissed off. He was afraid to lose gains when he should be afraid of losing his wife! I`m currently doing a week off, labs Monday then back at it. Such a good recharge for joints and the whole nervous system. I take a week off every 12 weeks and always feel better after. Strength is the same

That's dedication!

Not as tough as some. After having one shoulder rebuilt, another replaced and some spine surgery with fusion and rods being installed i took about a week off to make sure all the drugs were out of the system and some inflammation went down. Now if someone wants to see how tough they are i suggest having some in-depth hemorrhoid surgery and returning to the gym quickly. By far the most painful surgery i have had. Definitely a pain in the ass.

we are all creatures of habit. i find it extremely hard to take a week off and still eat as if im training. i am not a competitor keep in mind, but the gym keeps my meals in routine fashion. a month off id probably start drinking and eat like total crap as i find it hard to keep the diet and training seperate.

im goipng to be running bpc and tb500 for a month to heal bad elbow tendonitis. is it wise to stop all pressing and tricep movements for those 30 days to get the most out of the peptides? or should i just cut back the frequency and volume of those groups and keep training?

Who here is saying you’d lose anything from a week off? We are talking about 2 months.

In fact, most users here are saying they DO take a week off.

I had elbow and patellar tendinitis and basically worked around that so did not really stop training arms or legs just did different exercises that did not aggravate it. The BPC/TB did help too.
