I'm have surgery on an umbilical hernia in the 19 th. I have a hernia before but it was in my groin area and its 10 years ago. My doc told me not to lift anything over twenty pounds for 6 wks.

My questions are:

Did You do cardio? If so how long after surgery?

I thought a bout getting bands to do some light weight exercises with high reps.
Did anyone do this?

I also plan on coming off all gear for the six weeks to give my body a little break. Im gonna loose size but I think it will be good to rest and jump back on after my healing period.

Any other suggestions, do's or donts would be appreciated.

Been there. The first time I did not have the mesh put in. Doc said six weeks and I can start training which it did. I was doing light leg presses with about 150 pounds for reps and I tOre it again. Had the second surgery with the mesh. I took four months off of everything and started back light. Within another month or so I was good to go. Don't rush it. I did not take any supplements while I was out.

Had mine done 2011, 3 months post contest. So I gave my body a good 4 month break from gear. After surgery was back in gym 3-4 weeks, but first wk or 2 very gingerly baby weights, be careful even picking up plates. Did legs very light 6 wks after. Was back to almost to normal 12 weeks after. Some guys will tell you they picked up were they left off @ 2-4 weeks. Well they are damn lucky they didnt tear it again. Take some time to heal.

I have an umbilical hernia as well, debating on if I should get surgery or not. Mine doesn't hurt at all just feels like I have a stomach ache once in a while. For the guys that have had the surgery is it unavoidable?

I got tired of pushing it back in during lifting. It made me sick to my stomach. When it got caught on a tree step climbing a deer stand and I nearly fell 20+ ft, that was the straw that broke the camels back.

My doc said I can wait and have surgery but he said all i will do is make it bigger. I'm gonna get it taken care of before all this Obama care really screws everything up.
