Hey guys, thanks for the critiques on my diet. I am trying to gain some mass and have a hard time eating all the cals i need. I tend to just take an extra shake or two to get those extra calories i need. I have tried to force feed the last few days and i ended up throwing up. That is a waste (chicken is expensive). Is it bad to use shakes since they are so easy to digest. For any of u guys who did not see my diet here it is. Thanks for all comments! I am 27 yrs old, 5'9,165lbs,10 % BF

Meal 1 (6am) Then back to bed.

Ultimate Nutrition Weightgainer Shake (sometimes w/ milk or orange juice)


Meal 2 (9am)

8 egg whites
2 yolks
2 slices Whole Wheat Bread
1 Orange
1 Multivitamin

Meal 3 (12pm) Post-Workout

1 Ultimate Nutrition Weightgainer Shake (As soon as i get home..15 min away)
1 Serving Of Twin Lab Ultra Fuel (Imediatley after at Gym)
1 Teasoon Flax Oil

Meal 4 (3pm)

1/2 Serving Of Ultimate Nutrition Weightgainer


Meal 5 (6pm) Break at Work

Steak OR Chicken
Potatoes Rice


Meal 6 (9:45pm) Break At Work

2- Cans Of tuna
2- Slices Of Whole Wheat Bread or Egg Noodles


Meal 7 11:30 (if hungry)

1/2 Serving Of Ultimate Nutrition Weightgainer
1 Teaspoon Of Flax Oil

All this Adds Up to the following:

Protein: 250g -300g

Carbs: 350g- 400g

Fat: 30g - 50g

Calories 2670- 3250
 
You mentioned the goal is to gain some mass, then I would say having those shake is better than not having them at all. But in terms of getting all macronutrient for growth, I agree with all veterans who posted in your other thread, real food is a better choice than shake.

To develope yourself to consume more than your usual amount of food will take time. If you normally do 4 meals per day, suddenly upping to 6 or 7 meals is going to be difficult. Try avoid making sudden big jumps.

Also you can try substitute 50% of the shake on your 'Shake Meal' with reasonable amount of real food; This way you will not be stuffed with real food to feel like volmitting, yet shake can increase your calories.

Thanks for the reply. I really like that idea. I can maybe have 1/2 shake and 1/2 real food....then gradualy eliminate the shakes and be able to eat 5 real meals a day on top of my shakes.
 
I am in a similar situation, as i don't have a big appetite.

A couple suggestions
1. Throw in some oatmeal with your shakes - sounds gross but it tastes fine and you can get in some good carbs there
2. Also throw in some peanut butter or olive oil into your shakes for the extra calories
3. Eat nuts - cashews, etc. After you have your meal, have a handful or two of these. Easy calories.
