I've noticed a huge trend at my gym. It's really everywhere though.
EVERYONE (exaggerating) is tearing their shit.
And everyone is doing so outside of the gym.

I'd like to discuss prevention methods in this thread lol.
What should we be doing to hopefully avoid injury?

I myself fully extended and stretch with any curl.
I mean we all should be doing this but weight is everything with people.

I've been fortunate to never have a muscle / tendon injury. My tips:
  • If a movement hurts, find a workaround
  • No big jumps in weight no matter how good you feel
  • Always use protective / supportive gear on heavy sets - Slingshot, elbow sleeves or wraps, etc.
  • Stretch
  • Be EXTREMELY careful in all other physical activities - our bodies are not designed to be as muscular as we make them, so we're at risk with seemingly normal, safe physical activities

I think a lot of Guys today.
Don't take the time to Warm-up before going into any Exercise.
They just jump in with a Heavy Weight on Bi's and Tri's.

Then they don't Stretch afterwards, so now they are at Greater Risk when they go out into the World again.

They should take the advice of "Little Slice".

Never Leave the Gym (lol).................................... JP

Never lift so heavy you can’t peform 8 perfect reps

i think could be because a lot of guys pin their arms causing scar tissue to build up

combine that with overtraining, bad form, dangerous movements (mixed grip deadlifts), underhand BB rows, etc.

Warm up properly, ease into the weight.
Don't lift dehydrated.
Don't ego LIFT (know your limitations).
Don't be stupid.
Listen to your body (wise old Dexter Jackson).
Use therapeutic doses of GH.

Don't lift weights. Lock yourself inside. Wear those socks with rubber under the feet so you don't slip. Wear a helmet. Wear hockey protective gear. And for gods sake never do anything fun!

You guys are giving some solid advice here but only thing you can do is to try to lower the chances of getting hurt. If it happens it happens.

My friends have torn some tendons and it usually happens outside of the gym, usually when they are sore the day after the muscle they trained. I will most probably fully tear some tendons in my lifetime.

Different peptides raise collagen synthesis. Some steroids do that as well, deca, EQ, anavar.

while you're at it, you might as well cut off your dick so you don't risk accidentally slamming the car door on it

if they're doing it OUTSIDE the gym....
whats it matter what u do in the gym to prevent it?
i tore one on each arm inside the gym, not out.
overuse, way too much weight, 180 pound bb curls were stupid.
all my injuries were INSIDE the gym or wherever i was lifting weights.
never when i was outside working. no one lifts the amount of weight outside the gym as they do inside
oh! there it is. dont do arm work at less than 12 reps, go to 25 even.
small muscles dont need the work, specially when chest/shoulders and back work all use arms.
thank u and good night!

I think a lot of it is not stretching enough. Muscles get really tight days after a lift and then you do something outside the gym like bend over to pick up a big box of cat litter and you injure your back. That bag is only like 40 lbs but if your back is all tight then the chances of a tear are much greater.

Another thing about using your muscles outside of the gym is the often weird angles you do movements at and they way you lift things. Often youre not really thinking about lifting correctly and just pick something up at a strange angle.

I have tore up my neck and upper back before just sneezing really hard. Muscles were all tight from doing back the day before.

Poor training habits in the gym stress the muscles / tendons in ways they weren't meant to be stressed, putting one at higher risk of injury both in and outside the gym.

Hell, if it's that long that you might slam the car door on it.

I turned my upper body while holding a crankshaft to install it and tore my ab wall.Required surgery.Movement was similar to my twisting crunches.Feel it may have been difference in vector.Horizontal/Vertical movement.
