Torn Groin

I tore my right groin recently doing some HIIT sprint/sled work. I say tore because I can barely walk, I limp, and my rear mid thigh is bruised and swollen. The blood is actually pooling in the upper calf now along with the back of the thigh and inner thigh. All pain is associated with the groin tendon, pretty typical for this injury. The blood and pain level and lack of leg mobility indicate a tear. I bled a lot because I was limping around drinking my ass off at the lake for Memorial Day weekend. :) I was not sitting at home just because of a limp.

How long do you guys think I'll be down in terms of leg training and/or even LISS cardio? I never had a bad groin tear but I have heard they can be bad. I am on GH and AAS and will be adding 350mcg of BPC-157 2x a day injected directly into the inner though/groin area. The research on BPC-157 for valid tendon and muscle healing is very compelling. It also appears to potentiate or enhance the effects of GH to some degree.

Anyone else have a similar injury and care to share their recovery length, etc.?

sounds more like hammy.

i torn my right groin and got bruising on
inner thigh up into my lower ab section.

i didn't have trouble walking, but hard to sit
down and get up again from seated position.

pics...??

About 30 years ago I tore my groin muscle. You will feel it in your inner thigh, like Tenny said, up to you abs.

came close to tearing mine bout year n a half ago...
last warm up set of squats, was feeling great then I went up n had bad popping/tearing sensation...
racked the weight tried to move a lil n knew I was fucked...

lol

bout 3 months before I could think of doing much leg work... walking was hard for a month or so...

then I fucked up a tend in the same leg... doing something else stupid non gym related...

very hard to walk for a month from thigh to foot purple/black/green....
I don't have access to much n way of medical I would have def got n mri for this one...

around same time tendon in elbow torn too... handcuff incident... lol

sooo training was limited for a while...

really light stuff. no arm work for 3 months no leg work for about the same....

liss, bike shit like that...

then rom stuff, slowly working to light weights...

started gh bout 5 months ago went to peptides been taking some npp. my tendons are clearly fucked... so trying n experiment to see if I can fix some of the damage. will always be taking a compound or two for a year that help with collagen synthesis, along with supps that in theory will help...

was slowly getting back then sprained ankle... then sprained same one again.. lol sooo walking went back to hard, still swollen pretty good but rode bike a bit yesterday n did some practice leg curls n squatting...

over the last 5 years or so I have had to make changes to my training...
every time I would get close to moving "normal" weights I would get hurt, had to up the reps, drop the weight n be creative to work around it.

I feel pretty sure that i have done some damage to my tendons through the years of aas use/abuse...

more recent research has shown test retards collagen synthesis, being on for years, making muscles stronger n taking compounds like wini which may help to create more fragile/brittle tendons i think is partially to blame...

during spots my ankles were always bad/fucked, needed surgery but opted for physical therapy as to not take time off... i think i have only contributed to making a bad situation worse. lol

live n learn...

watch diet, high reps, keep in mind stuff above.

getting older sucks!

:p

Your recovery can be much quicker with stretching and massage. Typically, groin pain is used to describe the pelvic attachments of the adductor muscles. This would also explain your area of described pain. Stretching inner thigh, rolling it, particularly around the inside of the knee, and maki g sure your hip flexors and psoas are released. This will ease the pain, allow more fresh blood to come to the area. Blood brings the nutrients that speed the healing.
When it comes to training, you can use Voodoo Floss (can find online through Rouge). Its a compressive rubber strap that will continue to help with adhesiveness as well as provide support during training.
Train lighter, be patient, issues typically are improved around the 6 week mark

Yes, sitting on the shitter is literally the most painful thing. It hurts right in that inner groin area intensely. When I sit at office I sort of slouch and lean back so it's not as painful. Doc seems to agree it's groin tear too, likely grade 3. The initial swelling was upper/inner thigh and right groin. The blood pooling (bruising) on back of thigh is just sort of where the blood ended up migrating from sleeping and sitting. I don't think it's hammy or any other part of the leg. Seems localized to groin for sure. It's a real bitch though when you can't even walk without limping. Inner groin BPC shots don't sound so sweet either, fuck it.

Guess I'm too old for the bs I was attempting to do. Odd thing is, I never pulled up or felt a major twinge or pain during activity. It was only like 3 days later when it got so swollen and sore. This was also right after a massage with heat and some manipulation of the leg. It almost seems like I had a partial tear and then the heat/manipulations/stretching from the massage a few days later finished it off. Within 3 hours of the massage I had major pain and the swelling came later. The bruising a day or so later. The timing makes no sense otherwise. I had no pain or swelling in several day gap between the sprints and the massage session. But I also felt no major tension during the stretching or manipulations at the massage. Just sort of baffling.

be careful bout stretching...

you do not want to stretch if damaged as you could do further damage...

massage can be good but if hard n not done right again can hurt...

ice is good.
ice sucks. lol

i would not stretch that leg for a WHILE let pain go away.
slowly work to full rom movements, after those are good can try stretching.

my injuries were helped a lot by daily massage.

also think bout training...

most of the movements we do are pretty linear, you get strong in that up n down but side to side can get neglected resulting in weakness resulting in injuries.

mine went and i knew it immediately. it felt like i farted:eek:
then pressure after....walking was fine though...no limp.

getting in and out of a car....took me a few minutes.

like you...once im sitting, it was fine....or once i was standing.

took 1 month to NOT be sore. but still felt delicate
took 3 months before i could do some light extentions.

Damn man, doesn't sound too good. I was optimistic I could get some light weight training in after 5-6 weeks. I too look like an old man struggling to get out of a car. But I appreciate the honest feedback.

Sorry to hear this! I know it's not much consolation but time will heal it and the weights will still be there. You made through the broken arm...which was brutal...hopefully within 4 to 6 months you'll be in a good spot with this. Hang in there and be patient!!

Thanks Bio. I know you have delt with back surgery issues yourself. Since last April I've had a broken upper arm (spiral) with internal fixation. A ruptured appendix with laproscopy and now a torn groin. Best part is I'm literally bigger and leaner than before all of it. However, my lipids are a complete mess. I've used the setbacks as an excuse to use too much gear for too long.

WOW, now that is a break. Lucky it didn't become compound and poke through your skin. That end looks really sharp. How in the hell did you do that? Car accident?

Arm wrestling... Drunk. I know, stupid. It wasn't that jockish, meathead, who's stronger deal, we were actually joking around laughing. One press. It wasn't a serious attempt at competition. I pinned standing up and he pulled back with other free hand against it at awkward angle. I had a ton of torque on it and the fucker snapped loud, clearing the room. I was actually bending it around moving it and trying to figure out which tendon it was. I had no idea how bad it was at the time. Pain didn't set in until like 30min later, shock I guess. I can see how guys can get shot a bunch before going down. I didn't feel shit for a bit. It's full of metal now (rod and screws), huge scar from delt to elbow. Got a specialist who did a tricep sparing procedure and pulled it out and aside rather than cut through any muscle. Pressing movements ain't so sweet though, can feel it in the bone. This body is going to be SPENT when I return it I'm afraid.

if you push to get back to things faster you prob just gona get hurt again.

you say you a bigger leaner now with the setbacks. i use setbacks for progress too!

if you can basically maintain while you are too fucked to train that becomes your new set point, so when you get back in the gym you go up from there...

fucked up my elbow in oct...
did do one arm movement until.... idk jan then super light movement sort of stuff. now im back to a lil weight but nothing weights. idk what i use as there is not a labeled weight in my gym but prob like 25lbers...

arms have been starting to come back, but still missing the 3d aspect, braichialis really shriveled up. they will be better in another 3 months or so...

if you don't listen to your body you will fuck yourself out of training entirely....

think about that...

sucks to learn to train light but with a lil work can still be done!

damn tenny how many injuries have you had? How do you keep lifting and still stay in shape.. Just mind over matter and keep pushing? Almost every injury thread I have seen you have had experienced it before, yet you stay in good shape.

Ya know I can't go to a bar without some guy trying to arm wrestle me. It hardly ever fails..........
I just don't like to arm wrestle. The last time I did it was with a friend and we stalemated for like 5 mins. My arm hurt for months after that. Never again.
Nobody likes to hear about somebody getting hurt. I wish you the best working thru this. That arm break is something, wow! Makes me cringe.

tore an left inner quad (minor), right groin, right pec, left lat (still gives
me problems), left hammy (minor), both sides of serratus post infer
at once on a leg press (minor), tore a calve once (foot slipped off a stair
going up). tore my branchioradialis right off from the elbow.
i have slipped disks in my neck from squats.

yea.......yea that's about it.

i heal and go some more. i don't do any pressing movement over
about 275. i don't do anything on leg press over 4 plates a side.
i don't go over 225 for squats and only smith or hacks. no more
deadlifts. when i bench, its on the smith and its an inbetween close
grip.

Amazing to me that injury is from arm wrestling. The amount of force needed to do that is quite high I would think. You two must be pretty strong to do that. Ive heard of wrists breaking, radius/ulna, but to break a big heavy bone like the humerus is nuts.
