"total body press" - sick machine for functional power/football training

Looks like the equivalent of the crossfit "thruster" . I might kinda like it for cardio purposes , looks almost fun

I’ve seen that standing version, which seems a lot more intuitive and useful imo. But I’m far from an athletic trainer.
Agree. Most gyms I've been to have this machine...never seen a single person use it. I tried it didn't feel like I got anything out of it. The old school one where you stand up and load plates and press feels 10x better for everything..strength..power...size.

Yep, every now and then you can still find pieces like the jammer (think a standing HS incline press) at gyms more aimed at athletic performance.
Thinking of the jammer?

I think that is what you called it. Good call guys. Daniel, we used to take a bench and stand it up right here and there to make our own HS type press on occasion in high school. I kind of forget how well it worked but we tried, haha. That was a long time ago.

Really? I find that pretty interesting. Legit never seen this machine in my life.
I have 4 memberships because I travel for work. 2 crunch fitness have one each, the local golds does, but my pf doesn't as they have pretty much all the same purple equipment lol. But after trying it I can't see how it can be useful...an oh press db bb machine or deficit handstand pushup all imo are better. Now that i think more...in about 6 years of going to golds and crunch, I don't think I've ever seen it being used other than when I tried it lol.

I finally got my mother (77 years old) to start resistance training about 10 years ago. It's been GREAT for her, obviously. Her bone density improved from 60 to 70 by 13%!

Anyway, this is her absolute favorite exercise and she swears by it. She's closing in on 80 and still does her own lawn work, weeding, gardening, etc. and I'm convinced it's her 4x weekly resistance training sessions and nightly (1 hour on the bike) cardio sessions.

So, not just for football players!
