Training frequency question

Due to traveling to a small town every week where my farm is, for 2-4 days a week, it's really hard to train as the lil gym there is terrible, expensive ($55 mth), and the lady that owns it is a royal B, so won't go there. When we get our place down there finished (renovating), then I'll set up my Smith machine and other equip, but setting it up now isn't a option. When not down at farm (5 hr drive), can train at local gym here, I'm here usually 3-4 days a week.

So my question is what training regimens are better at hitting each muscle group once per week? Is it effective to only hit them once a week, and would you train more intensely? Any advice would be great, thanks. Btw, I'll be 50 this year, not sure if that makes any difference...
 
There are many ways,,,and nothing set in stone.

Try this:

day1: CHEST SHOULDERS TRICEPS
day2: QUADS HAMS CALVES ABS
day3: BACK BICEPS FOREARMS

Or perhaps if you are thinking more legs you could do rotate upper then lower body routines. As Alin states there are many ways but for a 3 day routine the one he listed is a great one.
 
Fortitude Training has a 3 day per week option called "The Family Man" plan. Considering many people have been successful with FT since Scott came out with it, I think this would produce great results...

There is also a DC-2 way split

Day 1 week 1: Chest, Shoulders Tris, Back Width, Back Thickness
Day 2 week 1: Bis, Forearms, Calves, Hammies, Quads
Day 3 week 1: Repeat Day 1 with new exercises.
Day 1 week 2: Repeat Day 2 with new exercises.
Day 2 week 2: Repeat Day 1 with new exercises.
Day 3 week 2: Repeat Day 2 with new exercises.
Then back to your original exercises

You can follow the DC structure or use your own set/rep scheme
 
thanks. So i'm not pissing in the wind only hitting each muscle group once a week? Think i'll keep it simple and do what Alin recommended, for a month or so then switch over to something like the Fortitude training. this splitting time between 2 places ain't a walk in the park, be glad when we can move full time to the farm, and i can grow my organic farm full time. thanks again.

easy as pie.
plus, at our age you dont need more, i find less is better, depending how physically active u are in daily life.
