How many people here really use training logs. Its something I keep failing at and always start it but never keep up with it. Just curious how many use one and how effective are they for you?

A training log is something that I've used for years and I recommend them to all of my personal training clients as well. They can be a valuable tool in that you are able to look back weeks or months (or even years) and see what has worked and not worked in your training program. It also makes picking weights for a particular movement very easy, as you can look back and see where you left off last time you did it. This makes for more efficient workout and less "wasted sets" figuring out which weight is right. My log stays in my gym back at all times.

I absolutely hate it, it sucks any fun and enjoyment I get out of this lifestyle. Personally I know a lot of people are number obsessed, but I think that only helps a small small percentage of people who's brains work like that...for me, it is the opposite of effective.

I never will, I generally remember how much I lifted last time I was in the gym, and I also don't really care, I'm in there to develop muscle not satisfy a math equation. It CAN BE VERY HELPFUL FOR SOME, but I am a very free brained, creative type and I absolutely am against bringing that kind of stubborn documentation into any area of my life...

Could not agree more with this. Been doing it for years this way. It is kind of interesting to look back and see how much weight you added or different routines you used.

Logs and records are critical in my opinion. You can't get to where you want to be if you aren't aware of where you are and where you've been.
