Training Motivation???

forgot to add, how hard are you dieting, and for how long? Sometimes simply taking a break from dieting, and shift back to maintenance calories, or even if nothing else, shifting some cals away from protein, and into more carbs short term can get you back on the right track.
Thanks for all the replys guys i been on 2400 cals and no carbs afternoon. Nothing crazy but I haven't been cheating at all past 6 weeks. I grabbed a pizza last night and will probably eat whatever today and then back on. Or would you take off longer? Going to take a week off the gym and research a new training style. Thank you

So southernmuscle commented on potential meds you are taking for anxiety and depression. Equipoise from my understanding hits gaba and can cause anxiety or at least interact in here.

All of the other suggestions are great and I hate to focus solely on drugs but sometimes changing that protocol might make a big difference. Additionally Equipoise lowers E2, hugely in some people. Need a sensative e2 test for it but all of this may be at play too.

What is your current training like?
Well when I do it its just a bro split. I actually want to go to the gym just when I get there after my first exercise I want to leave.

Yea I was on tren/test and was getting the same shitty workout, been pushing through for a long time. I thank you for the reply and am well aware of eq's effect on anxiety but its just not that. I wouldn't even want to leave the house if it was anxiety. I haven't wanted to train for a long time I am just like whoa I always loved training to a fault for many years, now I am barely getting a half-assed workout in. Could it be depression? I don't feel depressed and I been dealing with anxiety and depression for 30 years. Again thank you but I am posting up here rather than talking to my Dr about it. Though I think I will now I have an appointment on Tuesday.

Try something diffrent, i got sick from it once, i return to boxing for a couple of months and enjoy it very much, but got that fire again for bodybuilding that i had for 10 years and realized im addicted to it :D...

Dc training 2 way split. Very different from bro split. Lowish volume, your only training 3x a week so you get amped up for each session. 1 rp set per part so you gotta make progress or could lose that exercise. Imo would be a good change. Each set is life or death...no going through the motions

So you have no motivation to train and believe taking more time off is the answer?

Seems counterproductive?

2,400 cals and minimal carbs for 6 weeks? I probably wouldn't have motivation to train either. If I remember you are a big boy. I'm going to assume you are very lean at this point. If so, take a couple days and up the cals a little. If you are still out of shape, you are probably just giving in to your inner bitch. Posting up a post-diet picture will help with context.

I'll also offer that if you've been at this for a while - lack of motivation is a sign of overtraining/systemic fatigue (central nervous system). For me it's a fairly early sign unless I'm super motivated and then it's middle. Generally some time off or purposeful lowering of training load will fix.

Could also just be the universe getting your attention to break some focus away from this to something else for a bit.

I know that's vague as fuck but I'm 50s now and been training consistently since early high school. This can and does happen. Not anything wrong with it either. Ebbs and flows of life. One thing I will say is that when I come back, it feels fricking great and you are reborn loving it again.

Could also just be stars alignment ;-) and will work itself out.

Good luck on this. I've been there as have many others.

Dude I am not post diet just yet and no I am not very lean. And I am not that big I am 48 and have had some health problems

Sounds like over training. Take a week off if you haven't in a long time. The human body isnt a machine.

Take some time off the gym

Reevaluate why you’re doing it and what your goals are

Maybe set some new goals big and small

New training programme

Maybe new gym

Motivation can be hard to come by when it’s a 24/7 day in day out thing so it just comes down to discipline BUT unless this is your career if you’re not enjoying it don’t force it cause what’s the point

Do the above and see how you get on

I think this is very solid advice.

I'd take a week or two off. During that time off, find a new training program that not only challenges you, but also has some sets that you've never done before just to add a new dynamic to your lifting.

I'm actually thinking of joining a new gym myself just to "mix things up" so to say...

The only other thing I'd advise is maybe set some sort of specific goals for specific time periods to keep you motivated. I think that's the only thing missing from this great post.

While I mainly train for aesthetics that gets old after awhile if that’s your only goal.

I like to set micro performance goals. For example setting a PR on pull-ups or mile time.

Also skills goals. Whether that be learning jump rope tricks/variations or kettlebell work or getting muscle ups for example.

I also have multiple gym memberships. It’s nice to switch it up.

Are you working up to heavy singles or triples? It kinda sounds like some CNS burnout. I like the idea of DC training or something along those lines. Low volume with a premium on rest might be rejuvenating for you.

low estrogen
When I smashed my estrogen, everything I loved, I hated and started disconnecting myself from. I absolutely love training and I remember being at the gym telling myself that I'm done with training and I don't want to do this anymore.

yeah this is the only time it happens to me, when I have been training past failure for weeks and weeks on end.
Then I tell myself I will take 1 week off. Usually lasts 2 days, then I am back in the gym for another week or so, before I get sick and have to take 2 weeks off. That is my deload then lol

Why not try something like training outside if you can. It’s how I train at the minute mostly. Lots of work on the chin up bar and dips along with push ups and sled. Outside in the cold fresh air makes me feel more alive at the minute. Feels like a rocky montage. Circuit style or prison style. Haven’t really lost much size other than delts and everything was starting to hurt me anyway which crushed my motivation to train. The added bonus is my conditioning has gone through the roof.

Get a new hobby you love or something else you enjoy and balance your life. That doesn't mean give up on training either.
