training of the pros!
hey , great board. i was curious as to the type of training the pros here are into. i have trained once with kevin levrone and have seen quite a few train and they never train like the mags say they do. i was curious as to what phil , kiwi, big a , and the other pros that might be here train. low reps , high reps low sets high sets ect. i know how big a trains and i train the same but, it might be interesting to the other board members and me to see if the "weider principals" are a live and well.lol

I am no pro!!
But, here is what I do, I train HARDCORE for 4-5 weeks of heavy weight for 6-10 reps then do 3 drop sets. I only train 1-2 bodypart per day. Then I do 2-3 weeks after that of training still heavy but, w/ no drops and I go to my failure w/out any forced reps.

Good to see you here LATS! To everyone - he's a great friend of mine plus he is in the inner circle of the pros, just like Wyldone is. There, now you all can pester them with questions LOL

I personally train three days a week, HIT, one work set per exercise, 2 - 3 exercises per muscle group. Each bodypart trained once a week. I do this on gear or off.

Comp time, I train twice a day, 6 days a week plus cardio. One workout HIT, the other high volume. Each bodypart trained twice a week.

THANKS BIG A ! i wish people knew all the time big a takes to answer peoples questions. it will give you a new found respect for these boards and the guys in charge of them. once big a gets back in training and eating more than two times a day he will make a splash. hint, hint lol.
i just thought i would add that one of the hardest training pros i have ever seen is dexter jackson. he busts his ass and handles a great amount of weight for his size. he just does not have the genetics or structure of a nasser to handle a alot of size. but, lord knows it is not for lack of effort.

Train heavy all time
Train as heavy as poss all the time, keeping to the basic movements. I train low reps between 5-8 max, 3 sets , then on next exercise no warmup just do 2 sets 5- 8 reps, maximum 3 exercises per bodypart. I feel weight and good form , full movement are the keys to getting some good size.

Any of you guys ever train with Dorian? I know it's probably a small chance, but man that guy seemed hard-core!

Dorian was the inspiration for my training, his methods and thoughts I try use myself just refine them more to suit my body. Never trained with him though wish I could off.

I personally think Dorian inspired many! I read his book, watched his video and dreamed of becoming like him.

It's good to see that I am not alone-

Same here - I think that Dorian was it. I was SO EXCTATIC when I saw his video and I saw the way he did his calf training. Unlike any other bodybuilder I have seen. And that was the way I have always done my calf training. So I was happy - it meant I was on the right track. LOL

I saw him guest posing in 1992 after his first Olympia win. He was 265 RIPPED - awesome sight! Yet he was wearing three jumpers because he thought he was small! LOL

Classic muscle dysmorphic disorder! LOL! (actually not a laughing matter). I remember picking up my first issue of Flex and seeing Dorian on a back training article...from that day forward, EVERY back workout I've ever done included heavy reverse-grip barbell rows! Inspiration to the max!
