I run on a treadmill for cardio and if i ever wanna switch it up and go to elliptical one day how would i do it while keeping the SAME intensity and effects of the cardio? I know the machines differ in how they count the calories burned and then I have to take into consideration if the Intensity level is the same on an elliptical. Im losing weight at a really good pace so dont wanna lower the effects of the cardio by switching if thats what would happen...

observe and maintain your heart rate from one machine to the other

I agree with simply aiming for heartrate. Personally, I try to vary the machine as much as possible to prevent adaptation. They each have their own special thing going for them.

Yea just doing so well with the results from the intense treadmill workouts...dont wanna hinder the progress i am having so i wanna be careful about switching and be sure it is gunna be something equally intense and effective

ronjon..

as the others mentioned..its about the HR...keeping the level of intensity..then its just a matter of changing because you get get bored with one....like me.

So i should do my cardio sprints on the treadmill wearing a HR monitor and then take the average HR and keep my HR at that level on the elliptical or whatever other cardio I do for the same amount of time...right?..would that be the easiest way?

Don't even pay attention to the Cal's they count its very inaccurate. Just remember a few things, if your mouth is not open your intensity is probably not high enough. If you cannot get a sentence out, your intensity is probably too high (HIIT being the exception) You should always be sweating. So if you're dry your prob not going hard enough. The rest comes down to duration. Depending on your prior meal or if you're doing a fasted session you can rely more on duration:intensity. I like intensity post meal, duration low intensity fasted, in terms of fat loss.

thanks man..yea i consider the intensity level very high..as much as i could probably handle for 6 out of 7 days of the week. I bust some serious ass on the tread. Maybe 2 days out of the week I am thinking of changing it up. I dont wanna jump on an elliptical for 10 minutes (the time I spend on the treamill) and then get off of it wondering did I do enough..or did I do too much..should I have just stuck with the treadmill?..etc.

It all depends on your goal man, if you are 5% trying to get down to 3% you probably won't have much intensity at all, considering you have clear knowledgeable direction. Fat cals don't even require intensity a long duration session will take care of that. Just remember there is no right/wrong.

Its good to switch it up from time to time and stimulate your muscles differently. I love the Stair climber. If your gym has them they are great! You can do interval training (speed up slow down in incrememnts). Or skip a step. try to keep your heart rate between 125-140 bpm. optimal fat burning zone. You wont be sweating that much but it works! How much are you doing now? You may need to increase time a little to increase your rate of fat loss. : ))

thanks alot!...yea i am suppose to do intense cardio for about 10 min. I have been doing the same exact cardio for the exact same amount of time on the treadmill almost every day except with legs. I dont have alot of problems "choosing'' different forms of cardio or anything..I just want to make sure my body is going to feel the same positive effects that I have been getting on the treadmill. I would like to burn the same amount of calories and keep the heart rate the same because of being on a Specific Protocol ya know

Sometimes you just have push a car

Have one of you're buddies or you're significant other get in the drivers seat of you're car. Put it in neutral put the keys in the ingnition and unlock the steering wheel so they can steer. Get behind the car and push it up and down you're neighborhood or a parking lot somewhere for 10 minutes.
