I have been dealing with tricep tendonitis now for a couple months and was wondering if any of you guys have dealt with it also? It is just killing my tricep workouts and they were gaining really good up until it. I was thinking about getting elbow sleeves.

i get it about every 9 months it seems to last for 3-6 weeks i just get wraps , ice it and work around it . feels like a knife stuck in there ughhh hate it

I had it 2 years ago and I was out for the gym for 3 months and when I went back I had to wrap my Tri for another 3 months then it just healed and it never bothered me again.

When the Doc told me I had tendonitis I started taking 3000mg/day fish oil, and Glucosamine with Chondroitin and MSM along with a lot of Tylenol and nightly heating pad and I think the combination of all that helped it heal.

I've heard reposts that TB500 may also help.

Good luck.

Tb500. Compression makes it worse for me, rest, ice, compression, foam rolling, NSAIDs, & google mobility wod tennis elbow. Steady state use of GHRPs makes mine recede as well. Heat before workout/therapy, ice post. Good luck!

Fouad Abiad has a video on YouTube I think where he goes for plasma rich protein (prp) injection therapy. Can't remember if its tendonitis or a triceps tear that he's treating but it seems to have worked for him.

You should have a chiropractor, ART specialist, or physical therapist take a look at it. All of them can do soft tissue therapy that can help. I had a TON of adhesion's/scar tissue in my forearms that were the cause of most of my inflammation.

Got diagnosed with bicipital tendonitis about Thanksgiving time which I initially thought was a rotator tear. Took about a month off to start off. You're not going to let it get better by putting tension on it. Then tb500 seems to have helped a lot.

The only I've found that works for me is time off. If you can't do that, then prepare to go very light for several weeks and leave your ego at the door. Good luck bro.

if it to the inside of the elbow. try keeping your wrist in a neutral i.e. straight position during your lifts, i have found that to help solve the problem

depends if its chronic or not, if its chronic ur basically stuck with it unless u get prolotherapy, plasma injects or another form of treatment

my tendonitis is chronic, got it from training tricep to heavy with super strict form on things like hammer and overhead extensions (things that really stretch the elbow out)

best way i found to work around it (since i have pretty bad tendinitis in my right elbow)

AAKG 20-30mins before ya triceps workout, big dose like 20 grams, warm up with 1-2 light sets to get blood through the tendon, then first set do a heavy but high repetition set (15 reps)

basically after that progressively go heavier, with lower reps until it becomes to uncomfortable or painful for ur tendon

this is mainly done to get blood flow through the tendon, since tendinitis is usually caused by a restriction of blood flow to get through the tendon fast enough, so AAKG really helps alot

another thing is dont do tricep isolation exercises that cause ya to lockout ur elbow or heavily stretch it out

the other factor is to bring your shoulders into wen trainign ur triceps, e.g skullcrushers, dont completely lock ur elbows, allow a slight bend and bring the bar further over ur forehead rather then ya nose to allow your shoulders to eb brought into the movement and ensures your triceps dont overstretch and place pressure on ya tendon

theres a few other things, basically learn how to work around it, dont do exercises that cause pain and aggravate it more, itll jus make it permanently alot worse

it might stem from something else. i had it bad on my right side but it was from my lat pulling on it. had it worked on. extreme deep tissue and ultra sound for a few weeks and it eventually went away. if not consider changing you angles when u train tris. like on say press downs move you elbows way foward in front of you. and keep them there for the duration of the set. do that on all exercises. also get some linement. you can order it online if you dont have a feed store near by. works very goood.

Lots of good suggestions in here.

I've had some bad tricep tendinitis flare up a few times over the past few years. I would not recommend using sleeves and trying to work through the pain, you'll only make shit worse. I learned this the hard way.

As others have said. Make sure you are taking in some Fish Oil. Use a heating pad regularly and do lots of foam rolling/massaging on your triceps. I'd also suggest backing off from any heavy tricep work for a couple weeks. Do lots of high volume, very light weight stuff just to get the blood flowing. When I start getting pain in my triceps I'll do sets of 20 - 30 with light pushdowns until I get a really good pump. I've read numerous times that high volume can help tendons recovery.

I had severe tendonitus in my tricept for many years. I would work around it for a few months doing other, non hurtful movements for a couple months and it would go away for a while...until one day almost three years ago while doing DB presses my tricept finally tore off and surgery, braced for 6 weeks. Good news is now I have no more tendonitus and that tricept is stronger than my other one...besides that 2 months off at the gym, this was actually a blessing.

Wrap, Ice, Motrin... Mine is off and on and that would satisfy it, but I got an ACP shot though and have not had an issue for over a year now.
