TRT question

Hey,

I think I know the answer to this but want to double check to be safe.

I have currently been on TRT about 4 years. I’ve been paying a private clinic. My work has new insurance next year and I want to go that route for it. They want a new blood test prior to scheduling me. I want to have a blood level as low as possible, so I’m trying to determine how long to wait after my last shot, and I am assuming I should also stop enclomiphene. My current dose is 50mg 2x a week. I am thinking 2 weeks after my last shot should have me low enough. Or should I wait longer?

Everyone metabolizes testosterone differently, but a 100 mgs a week is more physiological so 2 weeks should be adequate

Seems it takes about 5 half lives for drug to totally clear the system from my reading. When i go to a TRT dose from my low dose cycle it takes me at least 2-3 weeks to get things in range. But that doesn't mean all the other blood work will have stabilized by then. You can always get your own blood tests first to see where you are at. Waiting an extra week is not the end of the world to get a script.

When I’ve done this, I just utilized an online lab to order up my test levels myself before actually scheduling my doctor appointment. That way there’s no guessing.

Thanks for the advices. I actually just got my bloodwork results back. I did my last shot of 50mg test on Friday night, and didn’t test Tuesday morning. It came back at 537 with free test of 13.7 which confirms to me 100mg is a little too low. At 120mg I sat in the mid 800’s and felt better. But also, if I wait another week and a half or 2 weeks my levels should be low enough to confirm for the docs.

Wait longer than you think you needed to for levels to fall. if you drink, drink quite a bit for about 48 hours before the blood draw and instead of sleeping just eat candy the night before.

That will help to lower natural test levels but probably won't lower the T in his system any quicker that he is injecting himself. Time is about the only thing that will allow the body to clear out T that is injected,

I never understand this idea of crashing your levels to nothing to show "I really need trt". It`s called transfer of care! You have the old clinic fax over your medical records to the new clinic. Does anyone think if you are taking thyroid meds and change providers you need to tank your #`s by coming off? That`s just stupid.

Now if you did self administer TRT, then yes you need to come off because no physician has every approved and documented your medical history.

He said the only reason he took me on was i had a folder of blood work i brought with me showing a history of low T. I could have understood if he wanted to see his own blood tests at that point showing i needed TRT, just to cover his own butt.

Traditional doctors do not always accept care transfers from online trt and wellness clinics.

I could have understood if he wanted to see his own blood tests at that point showing i needed TRT, just to cover his own butt.

My urologist, who is managing my TRT, never asked for, or thought to ask? for medical records, documenting my testosterone level. Don’t even recall if I took a test for him prior to administration. Where that was 20 years ago at leas. The doctor who started me on TRT, and osteopath, retired, and I was fortunate that my current urologist was 100% behind TRT and he was willing to run with me at the upper range, but not out of range for a 71 year-old, which I have no clue what they are, I’m thinking high 800s or 900 being the upper limit.

Sounds like the first urologist i went to. He treated me on my symptoms to start with when i was maybe 40. Handed me a script for adroderm(patch) and bloodwork at the same time. Earlier tests from my GP showed i was very low normal range before seeing the urologist. The test from the urologist showed low normal still before starting on androderm. Seems urologists are far more likely to treat on symptoms as sexual function is part of their field.
Many Dr just treat by the numbers. My current Dr is OK with out of the range at least sometimes. As he knows it is well established that mens T levels have dropped 20% in the last 20 years. And likely 40% over the last 40 years.
I have never seen a blood test for T which was correlated to age. Which each lab has their own range. Quest is about 1100 and Labcorp is about 900. I am at 800 on the labcorp scale when i go to the Dr and then bump it back up to 1100-1200
