Just run your own TRT and keep the prescription if you need it for legal purposes, travel, etc.
My objective was never to obtain off the charts testosterone levels only to be on the higher end of 'normal' scale. My complaint with my GP overall was the 'every 21 day' dosing schedule' where you raise my levels high and let them crash back down to nothing. That's hurting a person more than your helping them.A bottle of test is $40 why jump through these hoops to get a little "free test"? Top of the range on most labs is 900. I agree most doctors are clueless on the topic but you guys never see the other side of liability. Test is a controlled substance. If you are even pushing top of the range, god forbid over, it is liability and questions to answer for the doctor if they are ever audited. Why take that risk? To appease some cheap ass meatheads for a few bucks when their calendar is booked out 3 months? If you don`t like the traditional system (I don`t), then don`t participate or shut up and take what`s given.
I agree, but eventually the prescription will become expired if god forbid, a TSA agent decides to check it (I don’t know anyone this has happened to).Just run your own TRT and keep the prescription if you need it for legal purposes, travel, etc.
Dr.s have their ideas i have mine. I take what they give so i can get a scripted for legal reasons and testing covered by insurance then adjust as needed. The TRT clinics i have read about cost way more then my way. My script has been for 100mg/week for over 20 years. But he gives me a script every 3 months. Which micro dosing keeps me in the 1300-1400 range. But may need to find a new Dr soon as mine is in his 60's.
I’m not really jumping through hoops. The test is free, no copay, insurance covered and there’s no really extra visits. It’s one visit a year, the other is a video visit. I’m hoping to work my way up to 100mg/wk. so essentially I’ll get 100mg/wk free of charge.A bottle of test is $40 why jump through these hoops to get a little "free test"? Cheaper trt clinic I found is $100/month for 200mg/wk.Dr.s have their ideas i have mine. I can supplement the rest as I’ve done since 2007.

Mine was for legal reasons as well. At first my insurance didn't cover TRT at all (it does now) and the price from my family doctor versus my TRT clinic were nearly identical.
I gotta disagree with some of your logic… Some of us HAVE to use the doctor route for legality reasons. Just no way around that. If I didn't trust me I wouldn’t bother!A bottle of test is $40 why jump through these hoops to get a little "free test"? Top of the range on most labs is 900. We are in agreement. 500 total T is low and you should be able to get a bit higher. You can be 900 or even 1200 and still feel like crap. There are many factors in "fatigue" or even ED issues. Agreed the the medical world went bonkers with opioids and that his higher risk, but the FDA and medical boards only went after a very small few that were blatant abusers, script sellers. But I can`t point at a pain doc handing out scripts like candy when my wife`s medical license is being audited. Her license on the wall cost $300k and feeds us. We make pennies off TRT compared to other services and for that reason stopped offering it.I gotta disagree with some of your logic… Some of us HAVE to use the doctor route for legality reasons. Some tests show a tad over 900 (Labcorp), others are 1200 (Quest) for the healthy top end limit. If my bloodwork comes back at 500mg/dL, and I tell the doc I still feel crappy, yet he says I’m good just based off a numbered value, then he should re-evaluate his approach. That 500ng/dL may work for one guy but not the other 10 after him..
I mean by me saying I’m still suffering he hasn’t fixed the original issue. I am paying him for this service after all! I want my boosted energy, quality erections, great sleep, solid libido, etc. If he’s not comfortable then say that, give me a partial refund. He has the right to do this very thing. Just be upfront from the beginning and I’ll be on my way to another hopefully properly educated doctor on the subject.
I totally get the liability aspect… But that’s laughable with all the docs having a hand in throwing the country into an opioid epidemic… They sure as hell didn’t care abt liability then… Yes, there’s some that most certainly do follow all guidelines to a “T”, but there’s plenty that do not.
Anyways, I’m not trying to be argumentative here. Just giving my perspective on the matter for issues I’ve personally encountered.

$100/month for test, script, appointments, testing is better then i usually see. All told through my Dr for everything including syringes, swabs etc. I figure i spend less then $500 a year.Cheaper trt clinic I found is $100/month for 200mg/wk.
It’s far cheaper for me to get 100mg/wk insurance covered 100% and me do what I want for the rest on my own.
$1200 at clinic vs $0. No brainer
I only started this thread because I was shocked how so little test bumped my numbers that much. I use to use 750mg/wk min for 10+ years. I know wonder what my levels were that whole time
Yea, all this won’t cost me 200-300$ max for the year, if that. My insurance covers it all pretty much$100/month for test, script, appointments, testing is better then i usually see. All told through my Dr for everything including syringes, swabs etc. I figure i spend less then $500 a year.
I have $30 copays, my T cost me $5 for a 10 ml vial. But any AI i need is free. And my insurance costs me $10 a month! I certainly ain't complaining any.Yea, all this won’t cost me 200-300$ max for the year, if that. My insurance covers it all pretty much
My T is free, they want to charge me $1 a syringe but I just buy my own. I pay for blood work every 6 months, but I buy my own, costs me $50. Hcg is pricey so I buy my own. 1 free office visit (physical) and 1 telehealth visit a year which is dirt cheap.I have $30 copays, my T cost me $5 for a 10 ml vial. But any AI i need is free. Get this. I work with a 24 year old biological female to male transgender. I saw bloodwork. The top of the range was 71ng/dl. Blood levels were at 287ng/dl. This was from 40mg yest cyp weekly. She's been on t since 17 at the same doseI gotta disagree with some of your logic… Some of us HAVE to use the doctor route for legality reasons. Just no way around that.
