I've been seeing a lot of information about the effects of Turmeric on the joints and it's got me thinking. I personally have been very fortunate to not have any joint issues after 31 years of lifting but I'm curious to know any feedback from guys and girls here if they've tried it and what their opinions are. I figure better safe than sorry if joint issues do start to arise. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

It's one of a few supplements that I think benefit my joints with fish oil and glucosamine sulfate (not HCl) being the others.

Turmeric (& curcumin) is more than joints health, it s a very good supp :

Turmeric Contains Bioactive Compounds With Powerful Medicinal Properties
Curcumin Is a Natural Anti-Inflammatory Compound
Turmeric Dramatically Increases the Antioxidant Capacity of the Body
Curcumin Boosts Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor, Linked to Improved Brain Function and a Lower Risk of Brain Diseases
Curcumin Should Lower Your Risk of Heart Disease
Turmeric Can Help Prevent (And Perhaps Even Treat) Cancer
Curcumin May Be Useful in Preventing and Treating Alzheimer's Disease
Arthritis Patients Respond Very Well to Curcumin Supplements
Studies Show That Curcumin Has Incredible Benefits Against Depression
Curcumin May Help Delay Aging and Fight Age-Related Chronic Diseases

I have been taking this Terry Curamed (750mg) one gelcap in the morning and one in the evening. This formula is much stronger than regular turmeric capsules. I have been taking it for at least 5 years and feel it does help as an anti-inflammatory. I replaced glucosamine with it because the tumeric has a plethora of researched health benefits.

Turmeric has MANY benefits,
it is unfortunately a VERY fibrous material, that is difficult to absorb regardless of what you mix it with.
It is VERY hard to digest wood... or ingest enough of it.
Take my advise, if you want to see the benefits of turmeric get TURMERIC OIL.
Its highly bioavailable and at very high concentrations to exhibit the beneficial effects.
Curcumin/turmeric oil is also cheaper than most pills and capsules.

500mg ed didnt do anything for my knee pain. Had jumpers knee for 6 yrs. Then i upped the dose to 1000mg ed. A little relieve but not much. Now i am at 2x1000mg ed and all the pain vanished. Hitting pers bests with all kinds of leg exercises. I am 45 yo.

Damn, never knew this, what brand do you use? (Post a link if you have one).

doesnt help with my joint pain at all, and i take 2000mg a day....but ill still continue to to take it for the other many effects it has for the body

As curcumin has already been extracted out of the turmeric root. I would not think there would be any fiber left. And is much more available then from the turmeric root. I have not seen any studies that show the oil is absorbed better then curcumin it self. I t would be interesting to see.

Costco has a nice big container of the Turmeric liquid and I love it. I also put it on my omelets in the morning. It taste good

sprouts or and health grocery store carries it in the bulk section a lot cheaper then bottled pills and plus can put in shake

A spoon full of pure Turmeric powder is enough to give me the shits. I much prefer tabs that contain only the extracted curcominoids, including curcumin.

Others of us have used it with great results. You are wrong.

What brand do you use?

I thank you all for your feedback. I had no idea how many potential benefits their are to this compound. I think I'll start using it for it's other properties.

Give the oil extract a try, Jeff.
The fibrous material will not dissolve regardless of purity, concentration, additives... etc
Oil is made to be digested, plus its a concentrated source.
Ive tried different sources over the years and that my conclusion.
I buy a brands in the market locally but there are many different brands.
My wife uses it religiously and confirms that she gets a GREAT effect from the oil.

Sounds like I'm going to have to try the oil version. How much do you use daily? Do you drink it out of the bottle? No specific brand you can recommend?

I'll keep my eyes open for it, but so far I haven't found any trustworthy products here in Europe. Most of what i find online are bullshit turmeric 'essential oils' that don't contain any curcuminoids. Maybe it's more common in the US.

I have been using curcumin from Smarternutrition. The curcumin is in oil form in a soft gel. 192E02FB-D8A4-4D77-AC6F-34ADE84BA821.jpeg
