I just love the name of this operation, 'Aderlass' lmao. (translation: bloodletting) Germans sure have some funny words. Couldn't be more graphical and to the point than that since we're talking about blood doping here.

I didn't think they did that much anymore and that EPO was used most of the time. Maybe it is easier to get busted using EPO. Sometimes the old ways of doing things are the best.

I remember reading back in the 80s when I was into cycling that the pros used to do phlebotomies in off season and store up their own blood then put it back in before competition. I wonder if this blood was their own. Probably.

Pro cycling these days is about improving your power to weight ratio, which means losing as much useless upper body mass as possible since it doesn't make a bike go any faster.
