- Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie

Legend takes on the best welterweight fighter in UFC and most likely MMA history. Royce an MMA legend been here since the first UFC with a record of 13-2-3.. Both loses with his family "Camp" throwing in the towel. Hughes sporting a 38-4 record, right there we see who is more active. Perfect example is this; Gracie's last fight's show as follow.. 1 fight in 2003, 1 fight in 2004, and 1 fight in 2005.. only 5 fights..from 2000 till 2005.. Not very active………………

You gotta respect Gracie. However I think Matt Hughes is a smart fighter and will look to stop Royce from submitting him and pass his guard. Gracie is tough but I just don't know if he can handle a Matt Hughes. We will see....I'm getting in on PPV.

Ahhh i luv both of these fighters. I have mixed emotions about this fight. Although Gracie is past his prime it does not mean shit when u are talking about the Gracie family....Matt is a bad ass too...the only thing i feel gracie has working agianst him is the clock.........Good fight either way!

I really want Hughes to win this fight. I remember back in UFC 1 or 2 when after the fight Royce kept saying over and over: "I didn't want the guy to hit me in the face, I was trying to stop him from hitting my face" etc. Although he has huge heart I had less respect for him as a fighter after those comments. He is going to have trouble facing the G&P from Hughes thinking like that.

can't see royce tapping hughes with a sub. can't see royce getting tapped due to submission. don't think royce will tap and don't think his corner will throw in the towel, but the ref is an unstopable force....

would love to see a see saw battle, going till about 2 seconds left, hughes winning by strikes, but don't think it will last that long...

First of all, MMA has changed so much since Royce last major brawl. When Royce was on top, you could be one dimensional and be a real player. Not Any More! Sorry, but Matt is just way too much for Royce. I wrestled with Matt and I will say that he is one of the craziest, toughest, cornfed farmboy, and straight up meaniest mo fo's I have ever met. Call it a biased decision. Really call it what you want, Gracie is not as skilled with striking, takedowns, sure he has the guard,but Matt will pass the guard, trap an arm and ground and pound his arse. You won't have to wait to see if Gracie's corner will throw in the towel. Hughes but K.O.!!! :st:r-wars

hughes is def. one of my favs. i gotta give the respect to gracie hes one legend of the game but my pic is matt hes strong as an ox and good everywhere the game has in fact changed alot since gracie and hughes is way way more active fighter hes just getting to old and not in it enough.

I'm going for Hughes all the way. He is going to be at the top of his game as far as not giving Gracie a limb to submit. Gracie won't be able to wriggle or outsmart it from him because that's what Hughes is expecting, and the strength difference is big.

I really don't like Gracie. I respect him as a fighter, but I have seen many clips where he holds a submission for way too long after the guy submits. I remember one where the guy taps the ground, taps on Royce's arm, taps on the ground again...all in all it is like 12 seconds before he lets go. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Hughes is the man but Gracie will win by submission. It doesn't matter how much of a "badass" Matt is or how the game has changed. Yes I agree the game has changed. THAT SUCKS! Now you have every redneck with a hardon stepping into the ring without a single bit of ground game. Nobody wants to see ground fighting, it's not enough action for those that have never fought. Thank God Gracie came back because this fight will show, no matter who you are, it's all up to the ground game. Don't get me wrong, Hughes is my favorite fighter and I have much respect for him, but it's all in who has the better ground game that night. CAN"T WAIT!!!!

Im willing to take a small bet? Although lets be honest, conditioning, skills, experience are just factors, but in this sport Luck is one of the biggest factors. If you take the top 10 fighters in the world and make them all fight each other on 10 different occasions, your going to probably get 10 different out comes. If any one wants to bet a small amount of $ just for fun I have my $ on Hughs. We can bet via paypal, send the $ to an unbiased 3rd party on the forums who can pay the winner?
