UFC President Dana White strongly supported the use of medically-indicated testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for mixed martial artists competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He defended TRT as a legal medical therapy that anyone, including amateur and professional athletes, should be entitled to receive if they are suffering from low testosterone.

White doesn’t believe it matters why an individual’s testosterone is low. Former steroid abusers who are suffering from anabolic steroid induced hypogonadism (ASIH) should be at the top of the list for doctor prescribed TRT. It makes no difference to White if the athlete has ASIH that occurred as the result of previous use of illicit anabolic steroids.

UFC president Dana White gave his most extensive comments regarding TRT in MMA in a video interview posted by MMAWeekly.com following the UFC 146 press conference in Las Vegas on March 27, 2012.

“Testosterone replacement therapy is something you can do. It’s for guys whose testosterone is too low, but here’s what you’re supposed to do: You’re supposed to get it back to the levels of a normal guy your age, and if you’re even that much over, now it becomes illegal.

“It’s based on what’s legal and what’s not legal. That’s legal, marijuana is not legal. Obviously it’s bad these guys who have abused steroids earlier on in their career. That’s what’s so terrible amongst all the other things you find out that’s good and what’s bad about using steroids, these young, talented guys who are full of testosterone already, go in and start abusing these drugs. Now, when you get up to your late 20s, which should be your prime, (and) early 30s, now you’re all screwed up because you’re off the steroids and you’ve destroyed your system forever to where your body can’t produce testosterone.

“Which is good, but we want to stop guys from taking steroids when they shouldn’t do it. No matter what short-term effects you have, the long-term effects are much worse. It’s stupid, and that’s what we’re trying to stop right now. But testosterone replacement therapy is legal.”

Dana White’s views on testosterone replacement therapy in sport, and particularly for former steroid users, represent a refreshing and compassionate contrast to the hostile and punitive attitudes towards former steroids users expressed by most individuals associated with the anti-doping establishment.

I'm not surprised. Both he and Lorenzo look like they employ H/TRT, not to mention Rogan and Goldie.

Im sure Dana would like to get all his fighters on the same TRT he is on. Dont really want to hear anything from Dana unless he is announcing that Anderson Silva is going back up to lightheavy again to fight Jon Jones. Would love to see that fight

Silva and jones will never fight.Just like GSP and silva will never.

It amazes me how many fighters are on TRT are you serious! JEEZ Dana I wonder why your fighters notice that is plural so many are on TRT! Wake up bro:banghead:
Overeem is like fuck this I am taking advantage of this TRT:D

Silva and jones will never fight.Just like GSP and silva will never.

Why do you think Silva and Jones wouldn't fight? I can see GSP not fighting Silva, but I can't imagine Silva or especially Jones ducking a money fight like this and you know Dana would like to have as many high profile fights as possible. Silva vs. Jones would be the biggest to date.

Isn't this a total reversal of what he said a few months prior...December '11 or January '12?

I think there is a better chance of Jones vs Silva just because Silva has fought up with success. Also how many times can Dana sell Silva cards when his walked thru almost everybody in his division. If Sonnen looks like he did in his last match he doesnt stand a chance. Dont forget Sonnen tested positive after their last match. Lets see how close he comes being clean.

It's weird how things work in the UFC.. There are TONS of politics.. I had three pro fights with PRIDE(Before the buyout) and an opportunity for an undercard fight with UFC. I have some insight, but I do not claim to be omniscient. The fights that make the most sense to us don't make the most sense to the bank accounts. I don't even really watch UFC. I'd rather go watch some amateur competitions.
Take last night's Evans vs Jones. Probably the fight with the least amount of "action"(How the consumer views action).. I assumed that is how this fight would turn out.. BUT it still sold out and sold a ton of PPVs. Anderson Silva and Jones fight would be very similar to this. Most of the consumers would rather see Jones tearing apart someone. It's more entertaining to them. Same thing with Silva(which has been void in most of his recent fights).. If Dana White wants this fight to happen.. IT WILL... I'm sure this fight will eventually happen.... And when it does.. One of them will lose(99%). Just how it works..
It solidifies one of the fighters and negates the other.. Right now they have two "champions".. Two cash cows.. They're going to milk it. The fight will happen. Just a question of when.. And I can forsee the outcome.. I'll just say this.. If you think Silva vs Jones revenue #s are going to be huge.. Just wait til Silva vs Jones 2 .. Revenue #s are much larger on rematches..
Machida vs Shogun.. Who clearly won the first match? Rematch after a controversial decision.. More Money.. Just a recent example.

Dana White is running a business. It's not about the sport. It's about the money.

I ran into Rogan at Starbucks a couple of years ago and he was ripped, I was quite surprised.

Rogan is a pretty bad-ass pot smoking comic! Funny as hell...

He is great, one of the best, his routine goes into sort a Bill Hicks territory with his commentary on cultural affairs. He is into some mind altering stuff, I heard him talk about using a deprivation chamber and use of DMT, sort of out there. I find it equally weird that he is still with the UFC in spite of his outspokenness of drug use and political views.

trt is for guys with low natural test levels. tell me, the guys who are in mma, does it look like they have low fuckin test? if they can train hard and be so strong and maintain muscle, then what're the odds they suffer from low t?

If they look like they have low test, then they would need TRT. Those that need it and are on TRT, why would they look like they need it? If they looked like they needed it, then their trt wouldn't be working...

Why would Medical Marijuana (as there is in Nevada) be any different in his mind. Cause he has a script for one and not MM maybe.
