That symbol in the avatar , the raised fist symbolised so many things . funny thing that some contradict each other.
I guess in the US it does mean one thing more than others....for us it was the anti fascist socialist movement ...
I don't care what the kid practices or believes in his angry little world. But calling people with different opinions names and the avatar is offensive.
A short description:
The raised fist (or clenched fist) is a salute and logo most often used by left-wing activists, such as: Marxists, anarchists, socialists, communist and pacifists. The raised fist is usually regarded as an expression of solidarity, uinity, strength or defiance.
Different movements sometimes use different terms to describe the raised fist salute: amongst communists and socialists, it is sometimes called the red salute, whereas amongst black rights activists, especially in the United States of America it has been called the Black Power salute.
At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, medal winners John Carlos and Tommie Smith gave the raised fist salute during the American national anthem as a sign of black power, and as a protest on behalf of the Olympic Project for Human Rights. For this, they were banned from further Olympic activities.
