Unemployment benefits.

Hey Guys,
I am in a weird situation. I worked for my last employer unti January 6th and I was on a vacation when I received a termination call left on my voicemail.

Fastforward to April I decided to apply for unemployment cause my savings is running out.

However, I was allready looking for jobs and foudn one. Its set to start end of june.

I have an unemployment interview before my benefits are approved. I am sure they will ask me if i have been looking. Is it ok to tell them that I allready have a job ready but the position starts end of june. Can i still collect unemployment?

dont tell them you have a job lined up,
tell them you are searching and have had various interviews and one company told you they are pending on whether to hire you or not

and say that they said 'they will PROBABLY hire you in 2-3 months', until then you are still currently searching for other earlier and better employment opportunities

if you tell them you have a job lined up, they will more then likely consider not giving you benefits becoz you have found employment technicaly, they would more then likely categorize you as seasonal employment

There is no harm in honesty maybe its different in AUS but in the USA if you are unemployed and merit benefits even if you have a position lined up to start weeks or months down the road. I know two people who get temporarily laid off and to be re-hired after a certain period of time. You will not be denied even if you have a pre-arranged line-up you do however have to meet their standards for qualifying. Honesty will be the best policy
