Upper Eteremity blood clots anyone else???

hello every, im new to this board and just want to introduce myself... i think you have a find group of people here and look foward to getting to know you guys/gals on this board... im a vet of many other boards including the old UG supps. Meseo, and anabolics/anabolex.com...

i do however have a question... back in the last week of Janurary of this year i was diagnosed with Upper Etremity thrombosis "blood clot"... i affects my supclavian vein down into the veins in my upper middle bicep... they said it was close to 4 inches long... needless to say i had to quit a cycle "cold turkey", and lifting is pretty much OUT for now... im on waraffin for 6 months but the thing that aggravates me is that my Dr. will not give me a strait answer on working out, possible treatment after comoudan therapy etc... i was just wondering if anyone else has had a blood clot in the upper extremities like i have... thanks, Neils...

Blood clots can easily happen if injection procedure is not perfect. If you inject into a vein by mistake, any tiny air bubble will eventually form a clot. After clot formation, it will travel the bloodstream at random and eventually block a blood vessel. It might be a tiny artery feeding skin cells, or internal organs, or if you're really unlucky, your pituitary or something else important between the ears. Bottom line, make SURE you take out ANY air bubbles and make sure you aspirate.

There might be other ways for clots to happen but this is one and certainly looks to be the most likely among people who often undergo injections.

as i await another venogram at the end of august, to see what has caused my DVT this is what i have been told thus far... my dr. think i have waht is called Paggets von Schrouder (sp)? syndrome... this is basically known as effort enduced thrombosis... its most commently seen in body builders that do copious amounts of strenious over the head pressing motions, swimmers, and those that jobs require them to do repedative lifting motions with the delts... i dont think my clot has anything to do with injections in that i have been in the game since the mid 1990's...

I hope all goes well for you. I would not do any working out as you dont want to risk breaking off a clot and getting a stroke if that could happen. Be patient the coumiden should help alot I know they have stronger stuff though for you next option. MM

i guyess i should start out by saying, one day at the gym while doing shoulders i felt as if i midly strained my front/middle delt area while doing heavy behind the neck military barbell press... being old school, i took a rest and worked through it... 2 days later i woke up and had a terrible pain in my frint delt, outter upper pec, and down into my middle bicep... i took some anti inflamitories and 2 weeks later it wasent any better except the pain was gone... it finally took me a month before i gave in and went to the Dr... 24/7 my left arm from my delt to my middle forearm was light red, tight and larger than my right, like a constant muscle pump that dident let up...

that bad thing is, is if i had went to the Dr. in the first couple days of symptons they could have used thrombolitics, or other "clot busters", to correct it... i have learned now that a Dr. can be a good thing im keeping a good attitude though, even though i have lost over 28 lbs since the end of Jan. or so...

the reason that the dr wont give you a direct answer on workingout is that with dvt (deep vein thrombosis) there is a possibility that the clot could break loose. if this happens the clot will most likely make it to your brain or your heart, killing you.

28 lbs sucks ass but muscle memory is a great thing! Take the break-don't take any chances. After "the coast is clear" you'll be back in shape in 3months or so--and probably with some new gains after the layoff to boot. Good luck!

Welcome to the board bro. Sorry to hear about your curren situation but hopefully with time and the right treatment it will resolve itself. As another brother said, muscle memory is a powerful thing. till then, keeping you in my prayers.
