Upper Limit On Protein

I'm looking for some experiences people have had by increasing there daily caloric total by increasing protein. I know for me personally that if I take in too many carbs, I get fat. Same with too much fat. Problem is I need to increase my cals to get past a sticking point. What I was thinking was adding in another 100g of protein powder to my daily diet. This would increase my total intake from 350g to 450g.

Has anyone else done something similiar with positive results? Meaning added size without unwanted bodyfat.
 
if you take in to many carbs or fats you get fat because of the excess of calories not because they are carbs or fats. the samething will happen if you take in to much protein, you will get fat.
 
It is a good question....
It depends of your lean weight and the stuff you are taking.

Without as and gh with only 250 gr of protein in enough (considering your size and weight)
With as 350 gr is ok.
With as and gh and igf considering you weight you can go up to 600 gr.

This is not a formula you need to try and adapt it to yourself, looking how your metabolism reacts and lowering or increasing depending on your results.

You will have to try your carb limit and fats start with 350 gr of carbs and every 15 days do your bf measurements, and if you gain muscle and mantain or loose fat is a good formula, if not do the changes you need.

I hope it helps you, and i know some of our others friends here can explain it with more scientific words. ;)

I see where you're coming from but I disagree. When I initially switched carb grams for protien grams I got leaner and continued growing. Each one has 4 cals per gram, so cals stayed exactly the same and ratios changed. What I'm wondering is if there is an upper limit on protien intake before it starts being wasted?

Edge is correct. Protein will not get 'wasted', any excess with be converted into either triglycerides or glycogen and used or stored.

did you get leaner or did you just drop water weight and glycogen storeage creating a leaner looking physique though really not loosing any bodyfat.

any excess protien will be wasted and excreted, this is why on a high protien diet you have to piss all the time, the body is excreting nitrogen.

R U serious? Please do your homework before dispensing this crazy info. This is just as insane as some of the drug advice being spewed on here. Pissing out protein?? Wasted and excreted?? OH MY GOD.
 
I grew great off of 250 a day when I was 255-275 and gassed up. IMO the 2-2.5G per Lb is not needed.

The body should excrete less than 150mg of protein on an every day basis... if the count goes above 150mg you are on a condition called proteinuria. You definitely would need to get checked out and like Phil said please hand me a new kidney soon. The glomeruli is in the kidney to filter particles and store others like protein so they pass on to the bloodstream again ...

Hope it helps a bit that in no way is excreting protein healthy for the kidney.

BUN (blood urea nitrogen) is a test that measures the amount of urea nitrogen (a breakdown product of protein metabolism) in the blood.

Urea is formed in the liver as the end product of protein metabolism. During digestion, protein is broken down to amino acids. Amino acids contain nitrogen, which is removed as NH4+ (ammonium ion), while the rest of the molecule is used to produce energy or other substances needed by the cell. The ammonia is combined with other small molecules to produce urea. The urea makes its way into the blood and it is ultimately eliminated in the urine by the kidneys.



Urea Nitrogen is what is pissed out, not actual protein.

if you want to debate this topic I'm down, but please post some studys or research of some sort to back your claims or refute mine.
