Using the leg press as a chest press

Pretty sure charles glass had flex doing these in the 90’s

#gamechanger
I know glass is a legend but what Is the general consensus on his methods? I always see him having guys do very odd exercises he makes up vs the basics

Gym pet peeves -

Guys who use machines for things they are not intended for….

Saw someone the other day try to say you can use the Arsenal Lateral Raise for kickbacks 🙄

I've seen people use the abduction machine to hit side delts...lol...just use a dumbells

Also saw a guy on ig use the leg extension to do hip thrusts...lol

Boy what a response

My next video update I'm gonna be chugging a gallon of skim milk while doing reps of this leg press chest press movement
I'm just curious what type of response you were hoping to receive? Did you expect either your milk thread or this one to get positive feedback? It looks like you are just posting to be provocative, but maybe that's just my perception

I mean come on bro this is straight up retarded lol

1) Glass started modifying machine movements when the equipment of the time was all on straight planes or arcs that didn't match natural movement patterns. The newest generation of equipment matches natural biomechanics much better.

2) Stuff like doing machine or chest presses sideways did sell training. I definitely tweaked a ton of stuff so that people would get more excited about their workouts. I think nowadays functional style training is the latest rage in personal training, not machine stuff.

3) Some of the goofy "tweeks" to "isolate" muscles are simply not biomechanically correct and will mess people up when loaded.

Damn, the secret's out! Now everyone's gonna' to be jacked.

I think we should have a dedicated thread for "Instagram fuckery"

Start posting some of the ridiculous shit we run across on training, diet and nutrition that is absolute garbage.

I saw one the other day "How to make your calves cows!", or something like that. The guy giving the advice had calves the girth of my dick, which is not saying much at all...

Using machines in different ways can be beneficial especially when you go to a gym with limited equipment. Although in the IG era of trying to stand out most people do this in a stupid way solely to look different. Often their new variation puts them at a mechanical disadvantage compared to the standard way of doing the movement. This leg press variation I put in the stupid category. There are so many things you can use (db's, barbell and machines) in nearly every gym for effective chest pressing. There is no need to take up a leg press to do chest presses and it's stupid for many reasons.

Now that doesn't mean you can't use machines in different ways. An example I really like the tri-cep dip machine especially pushing down behind me. My current gym doesn't have that machine so I mainly do bodyweight dips or I put a DB in between my legs when I need more weight. What my gym does have is a good assisted pull-up and dip machine so I often put that on the max weight and do tri-cep dips pushing down on the pad facing away from the machine. I can sit down on the bottom of the machine so it means I am locked into place and it's a perfect set up for me to do weighted dips.
