Just started training pretty hard the last 3 weeks. Yesterday I riding a hard leg workout with dead lifts and leg presses etc. when I woke up to get out of bed, I'm dizzy as hell! Bi can even get up at first. I have to move really slowly. This has never happened to me. Please help. Is blood pooling in my legs or something from the workout? By that's the only thing I can think of?

Why are you starting a thread on here about this and not on the way to the docs or ER...not trying to flame you but lets use a little common sense. To answer your question-blood is not pooling in your legs from a workout-sounds like something a little more serious and you should be looked at by doctor. Hope you feel better and keep us posted please

Sound's like you may be experiencing Orthostatic Hypotension, or possibly nocturnal hypoglycemia?

Does it feel as your heart rate picks up upon standing while your feeling light headed? Headache, night sweats?

Agreed

My girlfriend recently started experiencing vertigo. The first time it happened was while getting out of bed. Sometimes it's a more mild dizziness as opposed to full on vertigo.
Was it just a one time isolated incident?
If you have experienced this more than once I would definately get checked out by a doc.

I just got back from the ER and they are calling it vertigo related inner ear pressure/fluid caused by the recent cold I am getting over. I tell you I'm glad it isn't serious but it scared the hell out of me. Had no idea what it was. I have been blowing my nose too hard lately. They gave me nausea meds and told me to wait a couple days to see if it rights itself because I don't have a sign of infection. Scary as hell to not be able to stand up out of bed.

Well, you did the right thing by going to a Doctor. I am surprised when guys have health issues and ask perfect strangers for advice, instead and seeing a professional.

I know, I just thought it was weight lifting related. My brother has seizures where he passes out. I thought I was going to pass out. Got scared.

i hope it is cold related .. my ex went through this a few years ago and it took half a dozen doctors 3 ( ENT. cardiologist and a nuerologist ) specialist and the cleveland clinic finally went away after 3 months .. they were of no help

Yep its either above or its this

Labyrinthitis - PubMed Health

Thank God I dont have any vomiting. Im leaning towards the later which is vestibular neuritis, which is an inflamation of basically a nerve in the inner ear that controls balance. It can be brought on by recent cold or flu. Im hoping this is what it is because recovery seems to be quick. The BPV seems like it could take longer to recover from. I would not wish this on anyone.

I agree. I know for some without health insurance try to make sure they really need to see the doc before they go since its all out of pocket and I suspect that is usually the thing going on in a case like this. If someone has health insurance and comes on here asking for advice before seeing a doc that makes zero sense. Trust your docs!

Haven't found doctors to be that much more knowledgeable, especially in regards to sports medicine. Case in point, nobody could help me fix my lower back, through research I was able to fix it myself. Often times people have to go to a lot of hassle and see a lot of different doctors to solve their problems. All I need a doctor for is to prescribe me medicine that I cant otherwise get.

In this case, if I had not panicked and stayed calm, I could have done some research and seen that I had vertigo due to inner ear inflamation due to recent head cold. Of course I never felt what that was like before, and I probably would have gone to the ER anyways just to make sure I wasnt about to die.

I had that once too myself and it feels like shit, but I wasnt too worried because I figured it was inner ear trouble. Mine didnt last too long, just a few hours and it went away. I think once you get up and walk around a lot of the fluid drains down the auditory tubes, just a theory.

Yeah seems to doing this slower though. It happened yesterday at 430am and today it's a lot better. Weird. Still feeling it a little when I lay down and look to the right.

Yeah, gravity pulling it down and outta your auditory tubes seems to help. Me sure to take a decongestant, that should help out a lot.

Yep, already there brotha. I'm taking sudaphed and meclezine for motionsickness (which I think I will save for other antinausea purposes.....)
