While I see the point you’re making and also am not trying to discredit Emeric’s message, your issues seem to be moreso lifestyle related. Not AAS.In the early 2000s aas was readily available on the net. As far as I know services like ulta labs didn't exist back then. Or at lest I didn't know about them being around back then. Nowadays you can order up whatever tests you want and get your results quickly. Back then I only got bloodwork once a year at my yearly primary care checkup. For the most part I was flying blind in the early 2000s as far as keeping track of my health while on cycle.
I agree. The point I was trying to make is that I didn't have the option to get blood work done more often. If I had gotten more blood labs done, I may have then altered my diet and lifestyle to avoid where my health is at now. While I see the point you’re making and also am not trying to discredit Emeric’s message, your issues seem to be moreso lifestyle related. Respectfully you shouldn’t need labwork to tell you to eat healthy, do cardio, control bodyfat etc…I agree. I am 65 and knew diet, activities, drinking, drugging could effect health decades ago. Health classes i had every year in school were teaching that back in the 70's I got blood work when i thought i needed it. The owner of the gym i trained at for years competed in BB and powerlifting in the 1980's as well as others and would get blood work done at least post cycle.Respectfully you shouldn’t need labwork to tell you to eat healthy, do cardio, control bodyfat etc…
But I get it was a different time. People weren’t focused on health as much in this space back then.
I got into my former use in a previous post but typically throughout my 30s and even into my 40s my go to cycle would be 500 test per week 400 tren or Deca per week and I will admit in my earlier days it would go along with 50 mg of d-bol or anadrol per day and typically these cycles would go on for way too long I will admit it. I abused the stuff and now I'm paying the price. Thinking about this now the first time I used steroids I was 16 years old and in high school. I knew a guy that was an adult, and a total hustler. Didn't matter if it was heroin, cocaine, weed, as long as he made money he didn't care. Hell, the guy used to shake down small businesses for protection money. He somehow got his hands on alot of pharma Parabolan amps. I was 16, 5'10" 160lbs with sub 10% bf, and very visible six pack abs. I felt Indesructable. I was so freaking horny all the time. I had 4 Father's of girls I went to HS with try to gang up on me and beat me up. I was on tren and knew how to fight. I beat the crap out of all of them after they all came me at once. Ahhhh....the good old days.....
When I got into my 30s...gear became much more readily available online. I'm sure some of you remember the old Steroid Encyclpedia board. There were once or twice times that I ran cycles totaling 1750mg for 12 weeks or so. Never went above that ever. (At least I don't remember doing so...) In my 30s my diet was hit or miss, but always plenty of protein, calories, fiber, and health supplements and ancillaries to try and stay healthy.
In my 40s the diet was cleaner, but far from perfect. Cycles were similar to my 30s, but I cut the orals down to pre workout only, and started running only 500 test pet week, and then cruise on 200mg test for a while. I'd say my average bf% throughout my 40s was 15%, with weight and bf% fluctuating between 200-220 lbs. And 10-18% bf. I did however in my 30s and 40s really let myself go and got fat, but I got my head together and dropped the weight fairly quickly both times.
In my 50s....have ran a few small cycles, but mostly keeping it to 200mg test per week and then running 300 for a while, then back to 200. I just started using gh daily a little over a year ago. Started a 2 iu per day, bumped up to 5iu. Nothing crazy.
Supplements and ancillaries:
One a day mens multi (just to prove how hardcore I am...lol)
Gorilla mind Omega-3 Elixr fish oil 4420mg/day
Magnesium Glycinate 400 mg
Designs for health brand Vitamin D Supreme which has 5000iu D3, 1000iu K1, 1000 K2, and 5mg of something called GG gold.
Double Wood Sulphoraphane 80mg per day for liver health. Was about to switch over to Synthergine.
Preservision Areds2....2 gel caps per day for eye health
Prescriptions: Xarelto blood thinner 20mg/day.
Been taking Dutasteride and Minoxidil for hair growth the last 7 months. I will have to talk to my doc about this.
Been taking retatrutide the last 3 or so weeks. I like the appetite suppression. I will talk to my doc about staying on reta.
I use cannabis nightly. That along with 2mg per day of prescribed Alprazolam (Xanax) the two things help to keep me sane.
Dude....maybe I'm just in some kind of goofy mood but that line got me smiling. Thanks for brightening up my afternoon. This entire thing is a shit lottery where the prize is not exactly something you wanted for christmas,
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this. People are posting and reaching out and it means alot. After getting advice from members here, and doing some online research, my mind is in a much better place now. I am ready to deal with whatever the future brings.A lot to unpack there lol. Looking at the whole thread a few things come to mind...
- Don't panic. It may not be as bad as you think and likely is not. As others have said the calcium scores are a little finicky and I'd investigate much further (as you are, so good job).
- Whatever the situation, it is the overall culmination of decades of things; stress, diet, drugs, ped's, alcohol, etc + genetics.
- I promise there are many 55 years olds in much worse situations that you...you can work through this!
- Diet: I'm not lobbying for you to get back on the carnivore diet, do your own due diligence (I'm not even full carnivore more like carnivore adjacent), but a diet that is low carb will drive your inflammation into the ground and improve insulin sensitivity, etc. For me, carnivore + avocados, blueberries, oranges and pineapple on training days, and steak and eggs pretty much only has my triglycerides <30! My HDL is >60 and in the best health of my life at 42 (which I get is still semi young but I'm healthier now than at 25). I'm also trying to reverse damage done in my 20's (mostly due to diet...I ate like an a-hole)
- I'd lean into some other supplements such as K2 and Natto together. Lot of great research on 6,000-8,000 of natto a day.
- Cardio and staying on trt or trt+ will be the way to go. I generally do 10-20mgs of test a day.
I'm encouraged how many cardiologists may not be advocating pure carnivore but a whole hell of a lot are advocating "carnivore adjacent" or carnivore / Mediterranean hybrid diets. I've mentioned my best friend in the world and cardiologist does the same and right out of med school he really was sort of a pro vegan/cut meat guy but has noted to me after the last 5 years when he can get people to change to (he calls it a "carmed diet" it's like a mix of carnivore and Mediterranean) a low/no carb diet that is heavily beef/egg based while eliminating heavily processed foods he sees tremendous results....even in those that do not need to lose bodyweight. His interest in diet started to peak when he saw how many people have blockages or issues that have low to normal LDL.
Again, I'm not lobbying for you to do anything, just batting around some thoughts. We all have to make our own decisions![]()
This entire thing is a shit lottery where the prize is not exactly something you wanted for christmas, plenty of people with perfect markers win the ultimate prize on a yearly basis.
Of course you should try to get your numbers down but just know that this is merely another marker and nothing is set in stone.
Theres nothing worse than living your life afraid of your own shadow, it wont improve your situation and will in fact make things worse.
I use Nattokinase Plus by DiVinci Labs. iherb has it.Flex500...you mentioned Nattokinase in your post. Can you, or anyone that uses natto, recommend a brand that you use and trust?
I use vitacost for all my supplements and buy the vitacost brand. They run 20-30% off all the time and their quality is great. Been using them for a decade. I do buy some random other brands such as jarrow, doctors best, and a handful of others.Flex500...you mentioned Nattokinase in your post. Can you, or anyone that uses natto, recommend a brand that you use and trust?
Talk to @DOGGCRAPP im sure he can set u straight!!Just got results of a calcium score test. A score of 400 is considered high. My score was 2250. Just found out a few minutes ago, and I'm going to be honest...I'm kind of scared right now. Thank God I'm already on Xarelto. Making appointments with pcp and cardiologist. Years of lousy diet bulking is finally catching up with me. Maybe I'll try to contact Dante to see if he can help me with a supplement plan to go with whatever meds they put me on. Don't look now guys, but I may be turning into the next Maldorf.
As it turns out the V6 twin turbo engine my truck has is actually 389 hp, not 278. Perfect for a guy with a heart condition.Luckily it has a red button above the rear view mirror that I like to call the Oh S**t! button. If anything bad happens it connects me to a 911 operator immediately. Definitely was a selling point for me.
Have an appointment on the 24th with a cardiologist to figure out the next steps. They will probably do a scan with dye this time to see how much calcification/plaque I have. Until then...wish me luck.![]()
